A trash can is a must-have attribute in any household. It is used to dispose of small waste. The design and characteristics of waste bins are constantly being improved, and with each model it becomes more difficult to make a rational choice. And sometimes the beauty of a product pushes its functionality to the background. There are a huge number of options on the market: with or without lids, metal or plastic, with ventilation holes and completely closed.

The choice will depend on your needs, wallet capabilities, and last but not least, aesthetic preferences.

Materials (edit)

There are quite a few different materials used by manufacturers to make a trash can:

  • metal models;
  • plastic;
  • from sheet metal strips;
  • chrome steel;
  • steel with powder enamel;
  • trash can made of brushed stainless steel.

The last two are the most expensive materials, but also the most durable.

The shapes and volumes of trash cans are also different, here when buying, take into account the planned place to determine the trash can and the approximate regular volumes of garbage that are "in use" in your family.

But absolutely all of them are light in weight and do not require special care. Almost all models have a cover to prevent the smell of debris from spreading throughout the room.

Where to put it?

Before choosing the perfect kitchen waste bin, you need to consider where it will sit. This is not the last question, since the model of the bucket and its volume will depend on the place. In many modern apartments, the trash can is located in the closet under the sink. Some people hang a bucket on the headset door, again under the sink.In homes, you can find another "tradition" - a bucket is placed in the far corner of the kitchen.

How to choose?

When everything is clear with the location, you need to figure out the type of urn that you need to purchase.

So, according to the characteristics, the tanks have:

  • covers with and without levers;
  • removable containers or multiple internal compartments;
  • with or without a retractable system.

You can choose a suitable waste bin from a huge number of options offered by manufacturers, but we recommend that you always opt for buckets with lids for practical reasons, regardless of the model that you liked. And there are a great many of them.

  • Baskets. Typically purchased for recycling paper products or dry waste. They are very cheap and effectively complement any interior.
    • Plastic buckets with a lid. The lids are completely different: a spinning lid or a pendulum lid, or maybe you will like a simple bucket with an opening lid, rather than rotating or swinging, as in the samples above. But it should be warned that if you need to touch the kitchen bucket with your hands to open it, then this is not the most suitable option for the kitchen. After all, garbage will be thrown out mainly from the cooking process or while washing dishes, and this is unacceptable when working with food - you constantly have to wash your hands after each contact with the bucket, interrupting cooking or washing dishes.

    Plastic is a very cheap material, and the volume of such buckets can reach 40 liters, so choosing a bucket for any purpose will not be difficult. Plastic does not scratch the floor and surfaces, and despite its not very "rich" appearance, it remains the favorite in the choice of buckets.

    • Litter bins with a floating or hinged lid. They are made of stainless steel and have a wide variety of volumes. Available in both a 6 liter bucket and a large 60 liter tank!
    • Trash cans with a lever. Such models have a special pedal that you need to step on to open the bucket, so this is a floor version. This bucket will not work if your family has elderly people or family members who have back problems - to throw out the trash, you constantly need to bend over to such a bin. For the sake of fairness, it is also worth saying that when such a trash bin is "wrapped" in a plastic bag, it makes it difficult to open the lid, and the lever cannot help raise it, forcing you to touch the bucket with your hands.
    • If you need the trash can be on the table, then take a closer look at table buckets, which are most often equipped with a turntable lid for ease of use.
    • Pull-out bucket with sealed lid. These buckets are a godsend for housewives. Most often they have a low cost, and they are very durable, do not take up much space in the kitchen, and do not strike the eye. The container is placed in a module on wheels that slide out from under the place where you will put your trash can and back.

    Care

      Regardless of which type of bucket you buy, you can be sure that with proper care it will last for many years without losing its original appearance. Just follow a few simple guidelines.

      1. Empty the trash can regularly - this will save the room not only from an unpleasant smell, but also protect it from the invasion of possible insects or pests.
      2. Wash and dry the bucket periodically.
      3. Buy trash bags based on the size of your container. They greatly simplify waste disposal.

      Consider these simple points, and you will have a useful purchase in your kitchen that will help you get rid of garbage and make homebuilding easier.
