Modern trends in the nail industry are quite diverse. At the same time, there are techniques that are already related to the classics of manicure. One of these is the moon nail design, which has already earned the love of many women, and once it was considered a completely extravagant option. Now highlighting the holes has become as common as French neutral manicure. In addition, this design is combined with a wide variety of techniques to complement them effectively.

Features and new designs

This type of nail design appeared at the very beginning of the last century and was very popular with Hollywood stars in the United States. But later he was undeservedly forgotten. The second wind into the well-forgotten classics was breathed in by the famous designer Christian Dior. In 2010, he used the highlighting on the nails of the models showcasing his collection. And literally everyone began to paint their nails with the selection of the cuticle zone.

The option proposed by Dior is a kind of classic moon manicure. These are white holes in one of the shades of red. Also, the traditional option is to use natural natural shades, which are used to create a jacket. White or milky holes are combined with peach, pink, light beige and creamy backgrounds. Most often, the selection of holes is combined with the French version or monochrome coating. It looks equally attractive with both a glossy and matte finish that has been popular over the past few years.

A manicure with holes is often complemented with a thin, graceful pattern of flowers, twigs or monograms along the edge of the hole.Recently, with a trend in geometry in drawings on nails, triangular and reverse holes have come. Triangular ones are done quite simply using strips of tape or stencils. They most often contrast with the base varnish or remain completely uncoated, benefiting from an unusual shape.

Reverse holes (also often called a reverse jacket) emphasize the entire inner surface of the nail plate. At the same time, not only the area at the base of the nail stands out with a contrasting combination, but also straight lines run along the sidewalls. The more pronounced the contrast, the better such a manicure looks. The favorites of the season are metallic shades. Double moons appeared not so long ago. They create additional emphasis. As a rule, they are made in one color. The first hole is in its usual place. And the second is made in the form of an arc at a distance of 2-3 millimeters from it and it is, as a rule, thinner.

Lunar manicure is considered virtually universal. He is loved by women of different ages. It goes with any clothing, from the most democratic to sophisticated festive. With its help, it is easy to create an elegant manicure for every day, and in the evening, complementing it with decor (from rhinestones or glitter), turn it into a fashionable version of evening coverage.

This design looks good on any shape and length of nails, fits any shape of the fingers. For all its spectacular appearance, the coverage is quite democratic and affordable for every woman. You can do it at home. This does not require special tools or equipment. All you need is varnish in a contrasting shade. And when performing the negative space technique, you can do without it altogether. If you are not sure of the firmness of your hand and the correctness of the future line, take special donut-shaped stencils to help you, which you can make yourself.

Best color combinations

In the coming season and next year, designers do not limit our possibilities. There are many colors and shades available. You can use both classic combinations and trendy tones, and sometimes provocative and unexpected. Each woman will be able to choose a design option for lunula to her taste and for the appropriate time of day and event.

Initially, a moon manicure is a combination of white holes with a red base color. Other traditional combinations also look advantageous: black and white, gray and pearl, blue and milky. In the French style, you can use the most delicate nude shades, which will differ from the main coating by two shades. Also, daring people can choose a combination of a hole and a jacket in bold bright accents from ultramarine to neon lemon.

A juicy rainbow of pure colors on nails is still popular. The wells, like the base coat, can be of a different color on each finger. A combination of strawberry and vanilla, mint and melon hue is in vogue. Milk chocolate is good in a matte finish and works well with clear or unpainted wells. The same effect can be obtained when combined with burgundy, black or dark green exposed holes. You can also use transparent varnish in the lunula area so that it does not remain completely uncoated.

For an elegant manicure, designers do not recommend combining more than 2-3 color options. A manicure with holes, especially if they are made in a triangular shape, in itself already attracts attention with its extravagance and clarity of geometric shapes. At the same time, gold and silver in the form of sequins and glitter remain the favorite options for creating a festive version of covering marigolds. Light manicure is suitable for everyday wear, decorating the bride's nails. It will add elegance to the image.

An interesting combination of milky or golden holes with nails painted using the ombre technique. The transitions of purple, lavender, pink shades look best with delicate shades of holes.Extravagant and creative, you can choose a combination of red and black. For winter, cold silver-bluish shades in combination with white and silver holes are good.

Decor options

The highlighting of the holes is often combined with various types of decor. Moreover, such a design is also allowed in the office, if there are not too many sequins, rhinestones and other elements. Most often you can find a combination of holes with rhinestones. When decorating, it is advisable to choose a small decor. From rhinestones, you can lay out the entire lunula (more often this is done on an accent finger) or attach them only along its edge. You can plant only 2-3 stones anywhere on the surface of the nail plate. They arrange them in a chaotic or strictly geometric order, emphasizing the main design element.

Modeling from 3D material and other volumetric elements will help to decorate the lunula. This option is worth choosing for the most special occasions, such as a wedding manicure. You can pamper yourself with a volumetric realistic design and on vacation. Elements can be located directly on the moon, along its edge or on the side. In this version, the moon is often made obliquely, almost from corner to corner, and emphasized with an accent of beads and voluminous flowers.

Kamifubuki are a great option for a party or prom. Colored metal circles can be chosen in any color and size. The drawing will be quite laconic, but no less stylish. Broths of different colors and diameters look good on nails with holes. They create the effect of luxury and celebration. You can decorate them with individual decor details or lay out the entire hole as a whole. This option is especially good for long nails.

Stylish nail design ideas

The designers who create the fashion for nail coating have done their best. Now we have many options for every taste, for every season and for every situation. You can embody one of the ready-made solutions on your nails or complement a trendy manicure with your own ideas. Recently, nail art tends to mix textures and techniques, so you can safely create masterpieces on nails without fear of being too much. The main thing is to remember the rule of accent nails and not forget about the relevance and appropriateness to the occasion.

By playing on contrasts, you will never lose. If there is no time at all, just take two spectacular classic colors: red and white, black and white, or black and red. This combination is very stylish. To create a fashionable design, you can use one varnish, leaving the lunula free of coating. This design has been a success for several seasons. And the girls who make it say that this way the nail plate breathes better, and the marigolds grow faster.

Lunulae may not necessarily be round or oval. Geometry is in trend: you can draw them with a straight line diagonally, a square or a fashionable triangle. Nails with bright lunulae of saturated or dark shades are especially prominent. Usually they are distinguished with lighter colors, but saturated ones attract more attention. Reverse holes are another popular trend that is especially recommended for owners of short marigolds, it makes them visually longer. In this technique, not only the area at the base of the nail is painted with a contrasting color, but also its lateral parts. The most fashionable color is a combination of silver metallic on the bezel with black or nude shades.

Double holes are adored by young people. This design usually combines trendy caramel and fruity colors. The second hole is often made transparent or shiny. Another fresh effect is the stylized eye pattern on the white hole. They like to paint such a pattern everywhere in Turkey. It is believed to protect against the evil eye. The original design of the hole can be done using dots. A number of points can be placed along the contour of the hole. And the area inside is painted over with a contrasting color or left free.

They like to combine moon manicure with a pattern. Moreover, most often it is done only on accent nails. You can place the drawing on the main color of the nail, and leave the hole free and even colorless. Another option is a monochrome base and a lunula painted with patterns. The most common patterns are veils, monograms, flowers and other floral motifs. Often they draw a thematic or seasonal design. Then the marigolds are covered with bright oriental patterns, autumn leaves, snowflakes or hearts.

Among the most chic options is the addition of lunar manicure with shining particles and rhinestones. In this case, you can get a variety of effects. Metallic rubbing or mirror manicure will give the nails a catchy style, this option is suitable for the young and brave. Unobtrusive translucent glitter is suitable for designs with a twist for every day. Luxurious shine will help add rhinestones to the nails, which can be placed in a row, fill the entire nail, part of it, or create whole patterns from them.

Popular techniques for creating a voluminous textured coating are also very successfully combined with a moon manicure. An openwork pattern or imitation of a knitted sweater with uncovered holes looks especially touching. Another flock technique is advantageously complemented by glossy holes in a contrasting tone. The main thing is to choose the right shade and the right color combination. For example, caramel and black, creamy and dark burgundy, golden and emerald green will look advantageous.

The hole may not necessarily be clear, but stylized. It can be done by gluing one or two special metallic strips for manicure. It also comes in the form of a blurry lightest or darkest tone in an ombre manicure with smooth transitions.

The selection of techniques and coatings looks interesting and unusual. You can alternate, for example, a glossy base and matte lunula. Also, 3-4 techniques can be used in one manicure. At the same time, the design will not look clumsy or cumbersome, because no more than two techniques are used on each nail. So, in one manicure, a pattern of monograms, rhinestones and double holes are often used. You can combine the technique of "broken glass", reverse jacket and fashionable geometry. In wedding manicure, details of volumetric modeling, lace painting, rhinestones and holes are used.

How to make a lunar cover?

It is not difficult to make a lunar coating, regardless of whether you are working with a simple varnish or a long-term gel. The easiest way to draw even holes is using simple stencils in the form of a donut, although the usual ones for French manicure are also suitable. You can cut them yourself so as not to spend money on purchased ones. If you are confident in your artistic abilities and eye, you can try to arrange them simply with a brush by hand.

Lunar design, like any other type of manicure, requires careful preparation. It will only look properly on well-groomed handles. Moreover, the emphasis in this type of nail art is placed on one of the most problematic areas of the nail area. Therefore, sloppiness, burrs are simply inappropriate in this case.

Before embodying one of the fashionable ideas on your nails, you need to carefully do a hygienic manicure. To do this, first carefully remove the old coating. We moisten a cotton swab or disk in nail polish remover and wrap it around the nail plate. Put on a tight foil cap on top. We keep it this way for about 3 minutes. Then, with a couple of movements, remove the varnish from the nails, it should move away freely enough.

We make a nourishing and strengthening bath for nails and hands. You can add sea salt, nutritious olive oil or rose oil to it. After the procedure, you should lubricate your nails and hands with cream. You can start forming the desired length of nails and removing the cuticles. For this, it is better to choose an unedged technique, since the cuticle can be injured. It will swell and a moon manicure with an emphasis on the area near the cuticle will not be the best option. Therefore, we take an orange tree stick and a special emollient, work slowly, very carefully.

When all the preliminary procedures have been carried out, degrease the nail plate with cleanser or ordinary alcohol. Be sure to apply a protective transparent base coat on it so that the varnish does not absorb into the nail and does not stain it. It is a good idea to use a base with an additional healing or nutritional effect. Dry your nails for 5 minutes in air or a minute under a lamp (depending on the type of coating). You can start painting.

Manicure with ordinary varnish with rhinestones

To complete this design you will need varnishes in contrasting shades, for example, red and white, like Dior's, as well as small silver rhinestones and a top coating.

  • Apply a stencil to the cuticle area. Cover the nail with red varnish from its outer edge. Dry thoroughly and apply a second layer.
  • When both layers of the base color are dry, carefully remove the stencil.
  • We paint the remaining empty semi-oval at the base of the marigold with white varnish.
  • Until it dries, we glue rhinestones on a couple of accent nails right along the wet coating, placing them one after another in a row, along the edge of the lunula.
  • Dry the manicure thoroughly and cover with a transparent finish for durability. We pay special attention to the tips of the nails.

Negative space gel polish manicure with triangle-shaped holes. This manicure is just the trend of the season. All that is needed for it is a gel polish of your favorite shade, thin strips of adhesive tape and a UV lamp.

  • On each nail we glue at an acute angle to each other (about 30-45 degrees), 2 narrow strips of adhesive tape. You can use a special manicure, regular stationery, or pieces of masking tape.
  • On top of the corners, paint over the free space with gel polish starting from the stickers towards the tips of the nails.
  • We make 2 layers, drying each one under a UV lamp for at least 3 minutes.
  • Carefully remove the stencils.
  • Cover the nails with a top, dry them and remove the sticky layer. Trendy nail art in a graphic style is ready!
