Features of the extension of a broken nail
Almost every woman is about beautiful manicure and long nails. But sometimes troubles happen, and at the most inopportune moment, the nail can break. Walking with a broken marigold is not only not very aesthetically pleasing, but also inconvenient and sometimes painful. How can a broken nail grow, can it be repaired?
What to do if your nail is broken?
A broken nail is a small tragedy in a woman's life. There are several options for what to do in this situation, to get rid of discomfort and maintain the length of the manicure:
- trim all marigolds to the length of the broken one;
- try to fix the nail yourself at home;
- turn to the master of the nail industry.
The choice of a solution to the problem depends not only on personal preference, but also on the severity of the breakdown. So, it is impractical to repair a nail that is broken by more than a third, since the structure will be fragile, and soon the nail will fly off. If the crack is small, you can try patching it. This method is suitable if the crack is shallow and appears along the "smile" line.
If the nail breaks off at the very root, it is better to contact a manicure master, then a professional will help you increase the desired length using tips or using a regular gel. But there are procedures that in no case should be carried out. For example, glue the crack with super glue. This material contains corrosive substances that, getting on the nail plate, corrode it, injuring the surface even more. This material can only be used on acrylic tips.
If the nail has broken off and injured the skin, then in no case should you use products containing acetone to treat the crack, since this substance should not get into the wound. If the crack is small, do not postpone the repair, as it can go further. Then you will not be able to restore the nail yourself, without resorting to the services of professionals.
Marigold repair at home
If a crack has formed on the side of your nail, you can try to glue it over. This procedure will help maintain the length of the manicure until the moment when you can visit the salon. And if the breakage is small, then this will allow you to grow the nail without cutting it.
For repair, the following manipulations must be performed.
- Treat the nail with a disinfectant. To do this, you can use hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidine solution, or another antiseptic.
- Sand the crack with a polishing file. The nail should become even, it should not cling to anything.
- Prepare patches. To do this, we will use a piece of thin fabric, special cloth tape or tea bag. The size of the first patch should be slightly larger than the crack parameters. The second should correspond to the size of the nail plate.
- Use tip glue. It needs to be applied to the nail plate and to the smaller patch. Glue the fabric, let it dry a little. Then cover the surface of the marigold again and glue a larger piece of fabric. Cover the top again with glue. Next, you need to grind the surface of the nail with a buff and arrange the desired design
Build-up
If the nail is broken, but at the same time there is a free edge, then the extension is done in the usual way. If the nail is broken under the root, and the fingertip protrudes strongly above the plate, then the extension technology will change a little here. Since acrylic tips are now practically not used to increase the length of a manicure, you can also build up a broken nail with gel. To do this, you first need to prepare the nail.
If your skin is injured when the nail plate breaks, then you first need to heal the wound. To do this, cut off the nail along the crack line, treat the dermis with an antiseptic. The next step is to stop the bleeding. Press down on the wound with a cotton pad and hold for a few minutes. Place your finger in cold water first and hold it there for 15 minutes. This will help relieve pain. Then place your finger in a warm solution of table or sea salt (add a teaspoon of salt to 1 liter of water). This procedure will speed up the drying of the wound.
Pat your hands dry with an antibiotic ointment and tape over the wound. Leave the nail for at least three days so that the wound heals, then you can proceed to building. We do a manicure: remove the pterygium, cut off the cuticle, polish the skin around the nail. With the help of a buff, remove the glossy shine from the nail plate. We degrease and apply a primer, let the surface dry for 20 seconds.
Now we apply the gel. To do this, using a brush, stretch the layer onto the nail itself, as well as onto the towering pad above it. This layer should perfectly align the nail plate, as well as create a free edge, for which you can subsequently fix the shape. Dry the gel in a lamp. Separate the skin from the gel using a metal pusher.
Install the paper form. Now you can design the required length and shape of the future nail. To do this, you can use any gel sculptor, be it transparent or colored material. Dry again in the lamp. We apply the design to the extended nail and fix it with a finishing gel. Now you have beautiful extended nails of the required length again.
