The graphite shade of hair has recently gained extraordinary popularity among both young girls and respectable aged ladies. The main reason for this, perhaps, is that it suits almost everyone. The shade "graphite" is good with any type of face, skin color and haircut, even the most extravagant. How to properly dye this shade, take care of your hair after the procedure and other facts about this unusual color - we will tell you in this article.

Peculiarities

Quite often, graphite color is confused with gray hair. This happens only when the work carried out by the master was not entirely of high quality and thought out in detail in advance. The graphite hair color is more reminiscent of the dark ash color of the lead from a regular pencil. Sometimes it can look like black with a silver or metallic tint, and sometimes it can take on shades of “wet asphalt” color.

As it becomes clear, the main color of "graphite" is cold gray or ashy of different shades. It can start both from the roots of the hair and from the middle of the length of the head of hair, and even slightly touch only some of the ends of the hair.

Who is it for?

Although it was said above that "graphite" is suitable for almost all women, it is important to understand that the color goes well only with healthy hair. It is noticed that best of all "graphite" suits light strands... Most of all, stylists recommend this cold shade to the fair sex with a cold appearance. Such hair can look especially bright on a girl with dark eyes and pale skin.

Unfortunately, this shade does not tolerate unhealthy skin and its imperfections.It emphasizes all the imperfections in the form of acne, irregularities and "red mesh" even more and can rarely be combined, for example, with freckled skin.

In order not to get an unpleasant surprise after self-coloring, it is better to go to a good master who will select the necessary shade in accordance with your type and face geometry. Too much contrast between the graphite shade and the skin can significantly add age, not to mention the fact that it will look very vulgar.

Some professionals prepare a mixture of dye from several shades of the same color in advance for different types of hair, depending on their pigment. The same paint can look gray, yellow, blue and even purple on different hair. That is why you need to go to a good master, because he knows exactly how to "neutralize" your own hair color correctly.

Professionals advise against dyeing your hair a graphite shade if it is naturally reddish. The reason for this, as a rule, is that all owners of such hair have a warm skin color type.

For the rest, we can say that the fair sex is worn by the fair sex of almost all types and skin colors - from burning African-American women to pale representatives of Northern Europe.

Choice of paint

For the color "graphite", a number of manufacturers have whole lines, including several shades, which are most often called "marble", "cool black", "ash" and the like. Such dyes can be used independently only by owners of black hair of a cold shade. However, they should not be painted earlier. The presence of gray hairs can also negatively affect the final result after staining.

However, if you do decide to buy paint and paint yourself, then it would be best to buy a semi-permanent paint. This dye will be washed off after about 30 shampooing procedures. Below are brief characteristics of coloring compositions for the shade "graphite" of famous brands that can be found on the domestic market.

  • A fairly well-known manufacturer in our country - Syoss... He produces a series of cold chestnut flowers, one of which is Oleo Intense. The composition includes quite a few components that soften the effect of the paint, including healing oils for hair.
  • Another manufacturer - Estelle... He owns the Deluxe 0 / G dye, which gives the hair an "ash" shade. The paint has a creamy texture.
  • Quite a popular and well-known brand, distinguished by quality - L'oreal... Preference 1.0 can be included among the colors of this shade. The composition has the advantage - it paints gray hair well.
  • Well-known foreign manufacturer - Schwartzkopf... The line of ash shades is headed by Igora Royal. The paint has an unusually deep ash shade. Unfortunately, it was noticed that it washes off quickly and turns beige pretty soon.

When purchasing paint, remember that "graphite" does not tolerate "arbitrariness" and can give each head of hair an individual shade.

Dyeing technology

Now it is quite well-known that after bleaching, which cannot be dispensed with when dyeing hair in graphite color, the strands acquire a yellow tint. It is different for different hairs - sometimes it is more pronounced, and sometimes it is less pronounced. However, modern bleaching compositions are very gentle on the hair. The very same graphite color, applied to the hair after, is easily washed off with specialized products, and sometimes even with ordinary shampoo.

Thanks to the last fact, you can be sure how the chemical composition acts on you, and whether the chosen shade is right. It is the "rinse off" of the paint that will help you achieve the desired shade. It should be noted that the shade "graphite" is whimsical, and therefore it is best to choose the shade together with the master.The whole process of dyeing hair in a graphite shade can take several sessions. But in general, the process of acquiring this color can be divided into several following stages.

  1. The first step is to diagnose the condition of the strands. If the hair is regularly looked after, then this stage will not become protracted. However, if there are traces of damage on the hair, then it is necessary to undergo a course of their treatment. As a rule, it is recommended to carry out a course of regenerating masks for too dry or damaged hair. In this case, short hair has an undoubted advantage - it is much less likely to be damaged.
  2. The next crucial stage is preparation for discoloration. This stage is needed not only for dark, but also for colored hair. Before the bleaching procedure, you must not wash your hair for 3-4 days, but preferably a week. In this way, a natural protection for curls is created.
  3. The third stage is the lightening process itself. It, as already mentioned, does not need light or unpainted hair. Sometimes for hair dyed with some particularly persistent dyes, it is necessary to use removers (special formulations). Getting a graphite shade is easiest for platinum blondes, however, this is very rare. The usual clarification procedure is as follows:
  • to 30 grams of special powder, an oxidizing cream (9%) is added in a volume of about 50 grams;
  • the mixture is evenly applied to the hair and kept for about 15-20 minutes;
  • later, the composition is washed off with water;
  • a balm is applied to the strands, it is kept for about 5 minutes.

After the hair has been lightened to the desired "condition", you need to move on to the next stage. It's called toning. The main task of the master at this stage is to neutralize the yellow tint of the curls left after lightening.

As it is already obvious, the dye for toning will fall on light hair easier and better. On average, the complete "transformation to graphite" can take up to 1 month.

Correct care

Obviously, first of all, after painting, it is necessary to use shampoos with gentle formulations. Regular rinsing with water with decoctions of herbs (yarrow, nettle) or lemon (the ratio of lemon juice to water is 1 liter per 1 teaspoon) helps to keep the hair in good condition. It is necessary to try as far as possible to reduce the impact on the hair of third-party things. (hair dryer, ironing, long exposure to the bright sun). In addition, you need to monitor your health in general - use vitamins, get enough sleep and, if possible, eat properly and fully.

It is also necessary to try to regularly update the selected graphite shade by visiting a highly qualified master.
