The choice of autumn coats is great, so everyone can choose a thing to their liking. Someone loves fitted trench coats to the floor, while others value comfort and freedom of movement above all else.

The duffle coat will not only warm you on cold autumn days, but will also help you easily endure difficult and active workdays.

What does it look like?

The duffle coat, like many other outerwear models, has its own history. It is associated primarily with the military. The progenitor of the modern duffle coat was part of the uniform in the navy. It was intended to keep warm and comfortable, because employees had to perform many active activities during the day. And only when such a coat fell into the interests of fashion designers and, therefore, on the catwalks, it began to spread everywhere.

Thanks to Yves Saint Laurent, the duffle coat became known to the general mass and fell in love with everyone - from students to business people. As often happened in the history of fashion, at first this product was intended for men, but soon it won the hearts of fashionistas.

It is worth noting that women's duffle coats differ from men's only in the possibility of a fitted cut and a large number of colors used.

What is a duffle coat? This is a single-breasted coat made from thick, wind-resistant fabric. It has a loose fit, medium length, a hood, large patch pockets and a special "zest" in the form of wooden fang buttons, as well as rough patch loops for them. Of course, over time, changes began to be made in the classic duffle coat model, experimenting with many parameters, but in general, its appearance is quite characteristic and recognizable.

Material

Traditionally, a duffle coat is sewn from wool, especially camel wool, so this material can be called the most common.

Often, designers resort to other fabrics that are suitable in texture and type, for example, cashmere, drape, less often a raincoat. There are very unusual models, for example, completely made of fur or knitted.
A combination of materials is possible. Models with fully leather sleeves look stylish. Fur trim, fashionable this year, did not pass by duffle coat. It is found on the hoods, lapels. Buttons (wooden, metal, plastic) and loops for them (from ribbons, leather, twine) can be different.
When buying a duffle coat, you should pay attention to the label with the specified composition. In a warm demi-season or winter clothes, the largest percentage should be wool, otherwise it will not provide adequate protection from the cold.

Models

The duffle coat belongs to the classic coat models, so its own variety of styles is not so great. Men's coats are presented in the most traditional cut for this type of clothing, but in the women's line there are much more options.
Basically, the duffle coat has an average length, just below the hips. There are shortened models, up to the hips, or elongated, approximately to the knee.
Extra length can be given by an unusual cut of the hem, for example, made in the style of a skirt.

Usually, a duffle coat has a loose fit so that even a tight sweater can be easily put on under it. In women's models, slightly fitted styles are widespread.

The hood of these coats is large, but comfortable. It can be either sewn on or detachable, and some models do without this element at all. Different collars are also possible - from its complete absence to a high stand-up collar.

Color solutions

The classic color scheme for a duffle coat is black, beige, gray. Such a small variety is mainly present in men's models. However, in recent years, the choice for them has become much larger, enriched with mustard, brown, blue, red palettes.
Women with duffle coats are more fortunate, since in addition to traditional dark colors, light (pink, white, blue) and bright (orange, green, purple, yellow) shades are widespread.
Basically, a duffle coat is a solid color product, not counting leather sleeves and a colored lining.

However, if you try hard, you can find a coat with a checkered print, embroidery or appliqués. Hinges and buttons are matched to the color of the product, most often they are universal black or white, blue, beige, brown or very bright (red, orange).

How to choose?

Since the duffle coat is sewn from dense fabrics and has a free cut, overweight people should choose those that hide the silhouette. This is due to the fact that the features of the duffle coat will help to mask problem areas. Models flared from the chest will visually make the figure even larger.

Although tailoring a duffle coat involves the use of woolen fabric, many manufacturers still add other materials. Of course, this affects the price (it becomes cheaper), but often also the quality.
You should pay attention to how well the parts are sewn to each other, including the lining, whether the threads are sticking out, whether there are irregularities and swelling on the product. A high-quality duffle coat can last for many years, even in bad weather conditions in autumn and winter.

The popular colors in outerwear this year are pink, blue, green, orange, and red. Some of them are difficult to decide because of impracticality or excessive brightness, so you should be aware that the always current classics are beige, black and gray coats.

Brands

Duffle coats can be found in many chain stores that sell outerwear, for example, Zara, Uniqlo, H&M. They can also be found in expensive brands such as Gucci, Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger. But the most famous company that produces reference duffle coats is Gloverall.
Gloverall is a world-famous brand that began with the production of workwear and uniforms.Their duffle coats are distinguished by quality and a guarantee of long service life. And, although the price of this brand's outerwear is slightly higher than average, it is still much more affordable than in high fashion houses.

What to wear with?

Despite the fact that the duffle coat is most of all related to casual clothes, many styles will look good with business clothes. The main thing is to choose clothes in one stylistic solution, suitable colors and do not forget about the shoes that complete the image.

Sports things are not suitable for most duffle coats, therefore, in combination with them, you should abandon sports pants, sneakers, sneakers.

The most versatile things to wear with a duffle coat are jeans (skinny, boyfriends, bell bottoms) and skinny pants. An interesting combination of coats with shorts and skirts of different styles - not only narrow pencil skirts, but also elongated flared, plaid, half-sun, with a smell. Perhaps also a fitted dress or tunic over leggings or tights. It is worth remembering that the hem of a skirt or dress can be no more than ten centimeters longer than the hem of a coat.

Under a duffle coat, you can easily wear blouses, tunics, sweatshirts, shirts, tops, elongated or cropped sweaters with a high neckline, especially if the coat itself does not have a collar.

From footwear, boots and ankle boots with heels, boots, ugg boots, timberlands are most suitable. In combination with cropped duffle coats and short skirts, you can use over the knee boots. Although a duffle coat and a high collar have a hood, a scarf or stole and a hat will not be superfluous. Bags fit different: backpacks, slings, shoppers, tots.
