Small and elegant. This is how you can describe these cute jugs - a creamer and a milk jug. But what are the differences between them? Even in appearance, they are similar, but the dimensions and some details give different ways of application. What are these dishes used for? Let's figure it out.

Peculiarities

It is actually very difficult to make a clear distinction between a creamer and a dairyman. If we start from the English language, then everything is even more complicated - the word creamer comes from cream - which means “cream”. However, coffee is served with milk poured into the milk jug and the creamer.

You can determine the size - the milk jug is much larger than the creamer. They are very similar to pitchers in appearance. Often these vessels are sold as a set. And there are also old models that even become collectibles and look great in the interior of the house.

The purpose

Nowadays, the creamer is attached to large tea or coffee sets. Creamers, as a rule, hold from 0.05 to 0.2 liters of liquid. Porcelain creamers are served with hot drinks by etiquette. The milk jug is larger and is traditionally used to serve milk to the table. It also has a pear-like shape, like a creamer, has a spout on its side, and is closed with a lid.

In decorating both jugs, different techniques and colors are used, for example, enamel or even painting with gilding.

Materials (edit)

Manufacturers often make these kitchenware items out of porcelain or stainless steel to make the service look great in the kitchen, but stainless steel is the clear winner.

But not only for aesthetic reasons, the jugs are made from these materials! The fact is that steel has a lot of advantages.

  1. It is durable. The walls of the cookware are durable and do not corrode. Even if you constantly drop such dishes, they will never break, like porcelain or glass.
  2. Relatively safe. Unlike plastics, for example, steel does not emit harmful substances when it comes into contact with hot liquids. In fairness, it should be noted that nickel, which makes steel stainless, is dangerous to humans in large doses. However, the steel surface does not have a porous structure, that is, odors cannot linger. The metal milk jug and creamer are not particularly beautiful from an aesthetic point of view in comparison with the same porcelain, but you can be absolutely sure that these dishes will serve you for many years without accumulating bacteria from dairy products.
  3. Can be heated on the stove. Many people make a choice in the direction of silicone and plastic because of the possibility of heating in the microwave, but if you figure it out, you can heat the creamer on the stove in just a couple of minutes, putting it on a hot burner, which does not differ in time from heating in the microwave.

Modern stainless steel can even be used on induction cookers, as it has a ferrite bottom.

The only disadvantage of stainless steel milk jugs is the burning of milk in them. But when making a choice between cheap materials and stainless steel, you can still adapt and keep an eye on the milk, stirring constantly when you heat it up, and then the problem will simply disappear by itself. Or you can buy a milk jug with a thick bottom.

Creamers and milk jugs of every shape and design can be found in countless online or crockery stores in your area.
