The specifics of graffiti design differs from other design directions. Usually these are mostly drawings of streamlined forms, in the form of grotesque portraits, volumetric letters that cast chiaroscuro. Graffiti doesn't have to be flashy, colorful. Often the drawing consists of only 2-3 pastel colors - the main thing is that it can be correctly combined with other accents in the home.

With what is the drawing applied?

The most necessary materials for painting a room:

  • paint in aerosol cans - approximate calculation: 1 bottle per 1 square meter of the applied pattern;
  • various nozzles for a spray can, so that with their help you can draw all kinds of lines;
  • high quality respirator;
  • stepladder;
  • polyethylene for covering floors and furniture;
  • Scotch;
  • regular pencil.

If you are going to carry out all the work on applying graffiti at home on your own, it is best to select special water-based aerosol cans - they will smell less and will not harm your health.

If you decide to order a painting from an experienced artist, he will use more professional and expensive materials.

Style directions

In different styles of interior design, graffiti drawings fit in different ways. It is best not to use them in classic styles, but they will look organic in any modern ones.

Modern

Art Nouveau style - here it is better to choose natural colors, flowing lines and plant-type patterns. In this style, drawings look good in the form:

  • curly ivy shoots, beautifully wrapped around furniture and the ceiling;
  • butterflies in black and white;
  • flying birds.

Loft

The loft style is distinguished by brick walls, concrete floors, high ceilings. The spirit of rebellion reigns here, so graffiti in such an interior can become an irreplaceable element of decor. The most common variations:

  • a gray city with an accent detail - for example, a figurine of a girl in a bright dress, a balloon flying high in the sky;
  • the symbols of your favorite musical group or game company;
  • the symbolism of the work - from a book to a comic strip;
  • abstract color combinations - smooth or geometric, variegated or pastel.

Minimalism

The minimalism style with its white space, sometimes a complete lack of accents and accessories will also be perfectly combined with graffiti-style drawings, which can look different. Better to choose low-key and small images:

  • clear silhouette of a black cat;
  • black and white portrait of a famous person;
  • black and white logo.

Scandinavian

Scandinavian style is very similar to minimalism. He often gravitates towards light colors, spacious perimeter and simplicity in design. Here graffiti can depict:

  • calm sea - white foam in the calm surf, a distant lonely sail on the horizon;
  • raging sea - huge waves, heavy clouds;
  • a whale resting on the water;
  • various scenes from ancient Scandinavian epics.

Decoration of different rooms

Bright decor on the wall of the apartment will not fit into any interior. The classical type of graffiti will always be associated with the expression of rebellious ideas, with the authorship of an eccentric personality, for this reason such an image is unlikely to be suitable for decorating the home of a family of retirees. But on the other hand, such a design will become very relevant for a teenager's room, for an active young man's studio or for a creative family's hall. At the same time, the most daring variations on the walls can be used - on a brick wall, monochrome, black-and-white, and multi-colored graphic drawings will look great.

The main difference between the graffiti style and popular photo wallpapers is their texture. Graffiti can have visual volume, a gradient, a surface like sand, wood or stone in high artistic performance.

Living room

Graffiti looks great in a living room decorated in industrial style, in the popular loft or grunge style. There should be the roughness of the existing decoration, the feeling of a completely abandoned factory building, for this reason the street art of the author's wall painting will be very useful here.

With a special desire, catchy graffiti can be perfectly decorated in a room that does not differ in particular emphasis on a particular style. Then such a drawing will become a creative accent in a boring interior.

Bedroom

In the bedroom, in principle, you can paint absolutely any graffiti: from an image in the style of street artist Banksy to a creative canvas on the entire wall. The most important thing is to take into account how the lighting will fall on the drawing, since if there is not enough light, the oversaturated graffiti will turn even a cozy room into an overloaded and uncomfortable corner of the house.

Children

Just wonderful modern graffiti can fit into many children's interiors. Thus, you can decorate not only the brutal room of a teenager in the face of a boy, but also it is interesting to decorate the girlish interior, and the baby's room can be turned into a fantastic or fairy-tale world. It is advisable to come up with a sketch of the future drawing together with the child, together to choose the colors and the point of placement. Simple designs can even be applied together.

Kitchen

In general, graffiti can be safely applied to any surface in the home - floors, ceilings. Street art works well even with tiles. A creative option would be to paint graffiti on a wall in a rough metal or wood frame. In a room where modern furniture is used, you can use volumetric patterns with the effect of "torn edges".

Bathroom

You can also feel free to experiment with ceilings and walls in modern bathrooms. The most important thing is to equip high-quality lighting for the future with graffiti and choose a light, discreet background so that a small space does not look reduced visually. Ordinary bathrooms do not have the largest footage, and a bulky drawing will visually narrow the space.

It would be best to place a solid pattern here in calm bluish, green, bright yellow colors. The panorama of the underwater world will beautifully decorate all the walls. Rounded fake windows will act as portholes.

How to draw correctly?

You can easily draw graffiti with your own hands, unlike art painting. However, even for seemingly simple drawings, you may need to be good at drawing. Prepare right away for the fact that you will need to draw with wide-open windows, and after finishing work, ventilate the room for at least one day. Aerosol dust will scatter in droplets throughout the room, therefore it is best to immediately remove all pieces of furniture from it or cover them tightly with polyethylene. Walls and floors should also be covered, and the window frame should be sealed with tape. A cloth soaked in acetone will help remove paint stains.

Be sure to do a preliminary sketch, do not rely only on the coming of inspiration. This is especially important if you are drawing graffiti for the first time. First, draw a sketch on the wall with a simple pencil, and then you can apply the paint selected in advance: first you should use the base color. After it dries, you can paint the details in other colors. You should go from the most ambitious elements to the smallest details.

At the end of the work, carefully trace the outline of the drawing - you can depict it with a spray can, and using special markers for graffiti.

Beautiful examples

  • Living room Is a room where you can safely experiment on any topic. There are practically no restrictions. Color palette, style, creative theme - anything can be applied. Surrealistic images, popular anime, urban landscapes, fantastic universes, legendary movie stars, significant people close to you, your own dreams.
  • In street art you can use not only full-fledged inscriptions, but also large-scale pictures: with a futuristic plot, with an avant-garde theme, minimalistic or in the style of surrealism.
  • For those childrenwhere little ones still live, it is better to choose less catchy themes and just decorate the walls with popular and beloved cartoon characters.
