People are more and more attracted by brick wallpaper in the interior of the hallway, because such masonry does not require a lot of energy and money. Different colors of bricks allow you to narrow or expand the space in the corridor of the apartment.

Advantages and disadvantages

This design looks very modern. Interior designers often use a variety of brick wallpaper options. There are a number of advantages to using such a coating:

  • good air circulation;
  • stylish and interesting design;
  • helps to align curved walls;
  • suitable for all surfaces;
  • it can be easily washed;
  • will organically fit into any interior;
  • performance of work does not require special skills.

    But with a large number of pluses, there are also minuses. These include:

    • long preparation of the walls;
    • subtlety;
    • lack of sound insulation and heat preservation.

    Coating types

    The choice of wallpaper depends on the price category, the quality of the walls, the room where the renovation is planned. There are different types.

    • Paper. The cheapest, moreover, environmentally friendly wallpaper. The price is fully consistent with the quality: they get dirty quickly, but are poorly cleaned. And the unevenness of the paper canvases is only emphasized. The pluses include the fact that they are very easy to paste over the walls. Subject to the correct technology, they stick to the surface well.
    • Photo wallpaper. They imitate brick as realistically as possible, so this type of wallpaper is quite popular among lovers of the medieval style.

    In terms of quality, they practically do not differ from paper canvases.

    • Vinyl. Vinyl wallpapers are most often chosen because of the average price and good quality. Such canvases will not spoil the dirt - they wash well, which is very good for the corridor. Vinyl wallpaper does not fade and at the same time hides all the imperfections of the walls.
    • Non-woven. Top class wallpaper. They are rarely used because the price is too high. In terms of quality, non-woven canvases are ideal - a dense layer well hides imperfections in the walls, they are not afraid of the sun.

    Such wallpapers are environmentally friendly, their service life is very high compared to other types.

    • Glass fiber. In other words, paintable wallpaper. They are often used to decorate hallways due to good air circulation and environmental friendliness. If you are satisfied with the option of painting the walls, then glass wallpaper is what you need!
    • The liquid wallpaper. Recently, they began to gain popularity. These canvases contain chemical and cellulose fibers mixed with glue and paint. There are two types of liquid wallpaper: ready-made and dry. Ready mixes are sold in buckets and are immediately ready for use. Dry wallpaper is presented in the form of a powder that must be diluted with water. For the hallway, liquid wallpaper is a good option, because such compositions are easy to wash. But this option will not work for ecology supporters.
    • Bamboo... Type of wallpaper made of natural material. Not suitable for families with children, as the cork layer peels off easily. When buying such canvases, you need to find out whether you need to varnish and glue them on special glue. At the moment, this is the most beautiful and natural version of the wallpaper.

    How to choose a color?

    The color should be chosen based on the style of the interior.

    Red brick is great if you want a bright accent on the wall. Furniture can be light or dark. A fireplace and old wood elements would work well with red brick.

    White color suitable for very light hallways, in soothing colors.

    Light colors visually increase the space, such a brick can be used in small corridors.

    Gray is used in loft style... In such corridors, there are usually no bright accents, everything is kept in one color scheme.

    Brown is usually chosen by respectable people who want to create an atmosphere of luxury at home. A room with such a finish does not need to be furnished with furniture; it is enough to hang a couple of lamps and paintings on a brick wall.

    Styles that use brick walls

    Not every style will go with paper bricks. You need to remember this when choosing a room design.

    • The loft style remains traditional, in which the brick wall is most commonly used. Vinyl canvases are suitable for an interior in this style.
    • Recently, the Gothic style has become popular. This is due to the fashion for ancient castles and luxury. So that such a finish does not oppress it, it should be diluted with glass elements.
    • Brick walls are also used in the style of minimalism., but only in white. It is inappropriate to use decor in this style, everything should be functional and compact.
    • Mediterranean style is a new trend in fashion. In order to decorate the hallway in this style, you just need to add bright pieces of furniture to the brick wall: a table, a lamp, a shoe cabinet.
    • The white Provence design is a classic. For this style, light-colored "whitewashed" canvases are suitable.

    Designers often combine brick-like wallpaper with wood-like or paint-like wallpaper.

      To combine the wallpaper beautifully, you need to understand which colors will look harmonious with each other. Rooms completely finished with stone look ugly and cold, so experts recommend combining brick with other plain wallpaper or paint. In small apartments, it is better to highlight some zones with a stone: a niche in the hallway, corners or furniture.

      Wallpaper design

      Brick wallpaper comes in a variety of options, therefore, different manufacturers of wallpaper differ significantly in certain characteristics.

      • Texture... It can be as similar as possible to a real brick, or it can look like a fake. Now manufacturers are trying to add brick chips to the wallpaper in order to reproduce the same relief as real bricks.
      • Masonry drawing... It can be different: even rows of bricks or a chaotic arrangement with bricks of different sizes. The choice of masonry pattern depends on the desired style. For example, a brick that looks like it has been worth more than a century is suitable for gothic decoration.
      • Colors... You need to choose based on the size of the room and the style of the room. They are also completely different: from white to black. If the hallway has problems in the geometric arrangement, then a combination of light and dark colors will fix them well.

      Finishing options

      When decorating a corridor in light colors it is worth choosing a brick in white and adding dark accents. For example, hang a mirror with a black border, and place hanging flower pots next to it.

      Opposite any brick wallpaper will look good built-in wardrobe... There is no need to hang chandeliers on the ceilings; it is better to make built-in bulbs or hang lamps on the wall.

      It is not necessary to lay out the entire wall with brick wallpaper, you can only select some part of the room.

      For example, glue light-colored wallpaper around the door under a stone, and make the rest of it plain (peach or beige).

      If there is an arch or doorway in the hallway, then you need to decorate them.... This design option focuses on inviting people into the house, as the gaze will be focused on the entrance.

      Red brick also fits well with modern wall design. It is enough to add contrast by adding a white wall. Small white cabinets will also fit nicely. But the door to the hallway is better to choose a dark one.

      If the corridor is open and does not have a doorway, then the layout will look better in stripes. For example, on both sides of the chest of drawers, you can make stripes of brick, and glue all other walls with plain wallpaper. On the contrary, a chest of drawers can be put in a wardrobe.

      Combination with other materials

      Often people who are very close to the brick theme, hastily combine wallpaper with other materials. The main thing is to choose everything well in style, color and achieve perfect harmony in the interior.

      Brick

      Very small fragments, arches, partitions can be laid out of it. The process is quite laborious. Therefore, just one accent may be sufficient. The rest of the space will be well complemented by wallpaper, with gluing which usually there are no problems.

      Tile

      Material that makes it easy to handle the repair. Using this type of material, you can also select individual zones, decorate the rest of the walls with brick-like wallpaper, choosing the appropriate color. This combination looks harmonious.

      Panels

          Brickwork can also be replaced with special panels in those places where it is necessary. This option will be complemented by a paper covering with a suitable pattern.

          The types of imitation of a brick wall are given below.
