It is impossible to imagine a bathroom or shower room without a mixer. Its absence makes it impossible to choose a comfortable temperature regime and water pressure. One of the most common solutions is the long neck mixer. Let's consider why this option is so popular.

Peculiarities

The spout of the model is considered long if the length of the gander is more than 24 centimeters, which expands the functionality of the product. The faucet with a long spout is perfect for showers, bathrooms and kitchens. Its main feature is the ability to use one gander for both the bathtub and the sink. In addition to practicality, such a model will be a good design solution.

Based on the features and characteristics, the long neck mixer is the right choice in the following cases:

  • when it is not technically possible to make a separate supply for the shower and sink;
  • saving money is required;
  • the washbasin is deep and the models with a short spout cannot be comfortably positioned.

Mixer models with a long spout have the following advantages:

  • the design of the mixer allows you to install it yourself;
  • conveniently fill containers of various shapes and volumes;
  • long spout makes it easy for children or pets to bathe;
  • the structural design of such models is characterized by high wear resistance.

In addition to the listed advantages, they also have disadvantages. Models with a long spout have leakage problems. And for shower cabins, such solutions are unacceptable precisely because of their size.

Varieties

At the moment, there are a huge number of mixers of various shapes, designs and costs on the market. But all models can be divided into 3 large groups according to the way of management:

  • single-lever;
  • double wishbones;
  • thermostat;

Let's take a closer look at each of the options presented.

Single-lever

A version of the mixer, in which the power and temperature of the water are controlled by means of one handle. The mixing process takes place in a cartridge consisting of a pair of perforated plates. Depending on their relative position, the temperature and the force of the jet pressure change. This design causes inconvenience when setting the required mode.

The cartridge is the vulnerability here. If the water quality is poor, plaque forms, leading to breakage. Failure of the cartridge means replacement of the entire mixer. But the low cost compensates for this disadvantage.

Double wishbone

As the name suggests, these are double-lever mixers. There is a separate pressure regulating valve for hot and cold water. There are two types of such structures.

  • With rubber locking collar... The design of such mixers allows the valve to be turned over 180 degrees. Such models are maintainable and have the lowest price in their segment.
  • Ceramic. The valve of such a mechanism can be turned 90 or 180 degrees. The design is quite durable, but unrepairable. The service life is most influenced by the quality of the water. The lower it is, the higher the probability of breakage.

Thermostatic

This is a novelty in the faucet market. Outwardly, they are a panel with buttons for adjusting the temperature and pressure, as well as for switching water. There are both mechanical and non-contact models equipped with an LCD screen. Management can be carried out both in manual and automatic modes. The thermostat also maintains a constant temperature.

Criterias of choice

Before buying a mixer, you need to clearly understand what criteria will help you choose a decent model. The right mixer? the guarantee of the comfort of its operation. We offer you a list of parameters that you should pay attention to:

  • the material from which the mixer is made;
  • durability and maintainability;
  • unpretentious care;
  • ease of use;
  • the complexity of the installation;
  • the length of the supply hoses and their features;
  • equipment;
  • the presence of an aerator.

Having decided on each of these points, you will form the appearance of the required model and greatly facilitate your choice. With proper care and use, such a mixer will serve you for many years.
