Not all apartment owners can enjoy an area with optimal proportions and rational geometry. Dwellings with cosmetic imperfections are quite common. The solution is to use drywall structures, but it is important to make them right.

Peculiarities

Disguising imperfections with niches in the bedroom is practiced very often. Many believe that this will only ruin the room. However, experienced designers know that drywall, with skillful use, can not only mask weak points, but also make the room more original... Often, thanks to artificial niches, it is possible to decorate the interior space, they are used even in the absence of visual imperfections.

Varieties of elements

The design of a niche in the bedroom can be very diverse. Thanks to it, you can achieve a sense of mysterious depth, externally increasing the space.

Many people practice recessed TV and bed placement. It is customary to divide niches into two types - deep and decorative.

The design of the recessed recesses is designed primarily to mask the imperfections of the room.

They are mounted either above the bed, or slightly away from the berth. Since the depth is large enough, you can apply these elements as:

  • bedside tables;

  • large shelves for souvenirs and decorative figures;

  • desk lamp.

Shelves are often placed inside, which will make it possible to equip full-fledged racks that do not absorb free space in the room.

Additional lighting is practiced using spot lamps or LED strips.This solution is perfect for zoning rooms.

The deepest decorative elements of the interior are often equipped with complex structures:

  • bookcases;

  • beds;

  • full-fledged working corners (offices).

The decorative variety of niches is much more diverse. Basically, their depth is not great. Usually they decorate the space behind the head of the bed. Sometimes in decorative structures they make medium-sized shelves for caskets or photo frames. But the main goal is to set the tone of the whole room.

In this case, they are used as a bright decorative element:

  • special plaster;

  • photowall-paper;

  • other unusual looking finishes.

Even in the absence of special claims, it is imperative to use decorative solutions. The simplest of these turns out to be staining in a contrasting color. A not too large recess is often used to expand the room with special aesthetic techniques.

For this, mirrors or some other reflective elements are mounted.

Niches can be used not only for the bed, but also for the TV. In this case, they are placed opposite the berth. Typically, the TV is hung on the wall, and the recess is used as a decorative frame. Illumination can be used (although not required). Notches help to improve the appearance of the room, not only due to special aesthetic properties, but also due to masking:

  • game consoles;

  • electrical wiring;

  • cables;

  • receivers.

Sometimes folding screens are used to camouflage various techniques.

In this case, the surface of a regular wall is simulated. There are a number of good reasons to use gypsum plasterboard niches in the bedroom.

GCR is more convenient than most other materials, because it allows you to construct elements of arbitrary shape. Their complexity can vary greatly. The plasterboard niche can be additionally finished in any convenient way and even a full-fledged sconce can be hung on it.

In addition, the installation of plasterboard structures is attractive:

  • affordability;

  • fast completion of work;

  • environmental and sanitary safety of finished structures;

  • the possibility of using special fireproofing impregnations.

Basic practical solutions and nuances

In most cases, contrasting colors and non-standard ornaments are used to highlight the created element. But at the same time, it is important to remember that the same arch for a one-room apartment should be harmoniously combined with the decoration of the entire room or with decorative elements. An excessively dark color against the background of a light or light gray bedroom wall is unacceptable. This step creates a "black hole" effect. Considering this subtlety, all other design solutions can be used without hindrance.

In particular, it is quite appropriate to transform an already formed design with the help of a built-in niche.

It will add a modern touch even where the old-fashioned style is used.

A very useful quality in some cases is heat retention, which is useful when a recess is installed in the outer wall of the house. The practical application of a niche is directly influenced by its size. In a medium-sized structure, you can place books and souvenirs on the shelves; if the size is larger, you can put a wardrobe there.

In some cases, niches can serve as container storage systems. For this purpose, all tiers are equipped with doors or pull-out drawers. Such a design allows you to store small things:

  • handicrafts;

  • cosmetics;

  • jewelry;

  • hygiene items;

  • small clothes.

Frame niches are useful as framing photographs, sconces and other interior items.

A large elongated notch is usually located along the head of the bed. In this case, wide shelves are mounted to replace the bedside table.

Another option is to build in fixtures. They can be an alternative to floor, table and wall lamps.

Experienced designers often use smooth transitions between niches and tiered ceilings. Combination with partitions and multi-tiered shelves can also be practiced. Another option is to place transformable beds in the recess. Such a design move has been known since the 15th century. For better camouflage, curtains or canopies are additionally used.

In the children's bedroom, a large niche is used for the installation of bunk beds. At the request of the owners, the lower tier turns into a working area.

Styles

The classic style goes well with portal niches, which have a rounded top and a special rear wall. To make the building look more luxurious, it is often framed with edging, reproducing stucco molding, or wooden baguettes.

But one must take into account such a nuance - the decorative frame takes up a lot of space. It is undesirable to place such niches one above the other. It would be much more correct to place them in a symmetrical manner in relation to the bed or TV.

As for the niches in the shape of a rectangle and a square, this is rather a solution for a modern interior.

Such structures can be of any size. Arrangement in various ways is also allowed:

  • vertically;

  • horizontally;

  • chaotic;

  • symmetrical;

  • diagonally;

  • in a single copy for the whole room.

Shallow notches are often placed on all walls in a room. However, they must accompany 1 or 2 decorative items. An important aesthetic technique is the interior lighting of a large number of niches.

With a well thought-out concept, it will replace the main chandelier in the bedroom or complement it.

Of the solutions that visually expand the space, stripes are in demand. When they are oriented vertically, it is as if the ceiling is being raised. When using a horizontal pattern, the walls move apart. Among the photo wallpapers, designers recommend choosing the following:

  • with evening and night views;

  • with calm landscapes;

  • with abstract drawings.

There should not be too many bright colors in the bedroom. It will only hurt your rest and disrupt your night's sleep. In addition to the classic contrasting niche, other options can be used:

  • one tone darker or lighter than the main part of the wall;

  • in the color of the wall itself;

  • coloring to match the furniture set or decor.

The niche looks very good, finished with the same pattern as the main wall, and painted in the color of the curtains.

This gives the impression that an additional window has appeared in the bedroom. Some designers advise using the notch as a replacement for your regular headboard.

To do this, it is covered with a soft cloth, painted in the same way as the furniture. Cold colors should be used with caution because they often create an overwhelming feeling.

A particularly light color is often too boring. In this case, you can dilute the tonality of the niche with a thick shade. You just need to correctly fit it into the general color concept. When there are many niches and they are evenly spaced around the room, it is allowed to paint each of them in a special tone. As you can easily understand, there are a lot of options - you just have to choose the best one for yourself.
