Naturalness, comfort and warmth - this is how you can characterize the chalet style. This design direction allows you to create a welcoming and serene atmosphere conducive to relaxation and recreation. That is why bedrooms are often equipped in chalet style. Initially, such a design was intended for private houses and cottages, but today it is often used in the arrangement of city apartments, including small ones.

Basic concept

Chalet-style interior design appeared in France, in the province of Savoy at the end of the 16th century. The literal translation "chalet" means "shepherd's hut." The first houses in this style were built by peasants, using exclusively natural materials. The furnishings were based on wood and stone, not only outside, but also inside the building.

We tried to create the interior as comfortable, warm and functional as possible.

Today, the style of the chalet is somewhat different from the original look, but the basic idea has been preserved. Bedrooms with this design have a similarity to the rustic interior. Its main characteristic features are:

  • natural and safe materials in interior items and decoration;
  • massive wooden furniture;
  • a fireplace that creates a cozy and warm atmosphere;
  • a large number of textiles and accessories;
  • dim lighting;
  • natural, calm colors.

    The chalet's bedroom is ideal for relaxation. A peaceful, calm atmosphere helps to relax, forget about everything that happened during the whole day, and plunge into a deep sleep.

    Decoration Materials

    A prerequisite for decorating a chalet-style bedroom is use of wood materials... The furnishings should correspond to an Alpine country house, which is built of solid wood. As additional materials, you can use stone and metal.

    To decorate the walls of the bedroom in the style of a chalet, you can use the following:

    • textured decorative plaster;
    • wood veneer-based wallpaper;
    • natural wood board;
    • wooden panel thermo-wallpaper.

    In alpine houses, ceilings are often present wooden beams. Such elements will look appropriate in a private house, especially in the attic. As for a city apartment, you can install imitation of wooden beams using slats, but provided that the room has rather high ceilings. And also suitable as a finishing material wood boards, plaster or panels with imitation of a wooden pattern.

    Floor decoration in the interior of the chalet must also be done. from natural materials. The ideal option is massive wooden board or parquet. If you have a small budget, the floor can be covered laminate... In addition to wood, chalet style is often used decorative rock.

    Furniture

    The main piece of furniture in the bedroom is the bed. It should be wooden, large and massive, preferably with a back. At the head of the bed, on both sides of the bed, stands are placed on which lamps with soft light can be placed. Chalet-style bedrooms should also have low-backed armchairs, but small rooms can be dispensed with.

    For storing things and bedding it is advisable to choose a large, roomy chest of drawers. Its appearance should resemble an antique piece of furniture. If the dresser isn't enough you can purchase an antique wardrobe - on small legs, with two doors without mirrors, with carved decor.

    Furniture facades should be matte - gloss is inappropriate in this style. There should be no plastic, plasterboard and veneered items in the design of the chalet.

    Textiles and accessories

    Chalet style design is characterized by the use of a large number of textiles. The bedroom should have large bedspreads, rugs, nap rugs, blackout curtains, tablecloths, and more. All fabrics must be natural. Handicrafts are welcome, for example:

    • patchwork bedspreads;
    • knitted blankets;
    • embroidered tablecloths and pillowcases.

      For window draperies, it is recommended to choose thick curtains made of linen or cotton. Small bedroom curtains can be short or Roman-style. Tulle is not used at all in the design of the chalet.

      You can add the interior furniture covers made of natural hide and decorative pillows... Mantelpiece or chest of drawers decorate candlesticks, vases of flowers and napkins, which can be either monochromatic or with a national ornament.

      For wall decoration, tapestries, paintings with picturesque landscapes or hunting trophies are suitable.

      Color spectrum

      Chalet-style bedrooms are not allowed to use colorful shades. The color scheme should be restrained and as natural as possible. Can be used all shades of gray and brown, white, dark or muted red.

      Small bedrooms are recommended to be decorated in light colors, while for spacious rooms, darker and deeper colors can be used. But so that the interior does not look boring, it should be diluted with several bright accents. These can be colored pillows, capes, napkins or tablecloths with a bright pattern, and more.

      Thanks to the play of shades you can divide the bedroom into several zones. This technique is of particular relevance in children's bedrooms, because in the same room children not only sleep, but also play and do their homework. In other cases, zoning allows you to allocate space for sleep and passive relaxation.
