Decorating the rooms of the house in various styles is a topic that never ceases to excite people. Perhaps the most important place in life is occupied by bedrooms. And that is why the application of a specific design direction to them deserves a thorough analysis. In this article, we will consider the rules for decorating a Scandinavian-style bedroom.

Peculiarities

It is appropriate to start a conversation about the Scandinavian style in the interior with the fact that this approach is in demand now in various parts of the world. This design direction is appropriate everywhere, regardless of climatic conditions. The stylistics of northern Europe embody ecological motives and functionality. The practical, but simple look of the "Scandinavian" bedroom will appeal to most of the inhabitants of Russia. It is nicer than radical design delights.

Recognizing a Scandinavian-style room is not difficult. It is characterized by:

  • natural colors (mostly white, beige, sometimes gray and peach);

  • preference for natural materials (even fur is admissible);

  • minimum of furniture and accessories;

  • maximum light (both natural and artificial);

  • heterogeneous ceramic decor;

  • use of bright accents.

A variety of objects and things can be used as colored inclusions:

  • colorful pillows;

  • graceful or unusual looking plants (especially good with original planters);

  • pictures of rich colors.

True, overly bright tonalities should be treated with caution. It is almost impossible to make a room cozy when using them. But even the most conservative people will not object to the snow-white ceiling.

The glossy surface will make the room visually warmer and more spacious. Otherwise, there are no special restrictions on the choice of color.

Considerable benefit can be brought, especially for a small bedroom-living room, imitation of natural materials. It allows you to save money in comparison with a full-fledged natural decor.

Thin tulle is usually used for draping windows. However, sometimes it is better to give up any drapery altogether. But the walls in the Scandinavian room should be made as light as possible.

Color spectrum

Knowing the basic design rules is very important, but the ability to use good color inclusions is also of great importance. The competent use of bright accents and backgrounds can allow:

  • distract from unnecessary elements in the room;

  • focus on the benefits of a particular composition;

  • add comfort to the room;

  • expand or contract the space.

White is the perfect solution for those who value peace. It is practically impossible for a situation when there would be too much of this color. If you choose combinations, then you should additionally use black, blue, green and lemon paints.

The use of beige tones also gives good results. Where they are, the room immediately looks more elegant. Usually beige colors are used in decoration:

  • walls;

  • floor;

  • furniture;

  • accessories.

Beige combines perfectly with coffee, peach, pistachio range. The raspberry tone works well too. You can avoid overweighting the situation in a simple way: give up heavy furniture and dark curtains. Sometimes they act differently - they prefer golden tulle, elegant lighting or beautiful paintings. Either way, the skillfully used beige is guaranteed to blend in with the Scandinavian setting.

Gray paint also deserves attention, according to the designers. This solution has been used for a long time and is designed primarily to increase the brightness of single elements. A combination of gray and white, pink (reddish), blue, coffee colors is often used. The use of pink as dominant tones is not very popular. But they make the room more original.

The green color can also be in demand in the design of bedrooms, although it is used unreasonably little. If the green color is not to your liking, you can use an olive tone. These solutions make the room ideally conducive to rest, sleep and emotional relaxation.

Green helps to refresh the space. But due to excessive enthusiasm for such colors, sometimes too much light is absorbed, therefore it becomes excessively gloomy, alarming.

Furniture selection

This moment deserves special attention. Taking into account the canons of the Scandinavian approach, furniture in such a bedroom should be made of natural materials. Different types of wood are ideal. But it is not enough just to put in a certain amount of furniture made of wood. Attempts to copy the classical approach are often taken thoughtlessly.

By transferring one single stylistic element (or even several of them) into their space, they get only senseless eclecticism. The Scandinavians themselves have developed a special style not all at once, but filling the premises with furniture at different times. Many years could pass between the appearance of different items. Therefore, they can have a rather different look. It is categorically impossible to miss such a nuance.

This effect can be reproduced by placing furniture in the house that represents different decades of the twentieth century. Sometimes even the most old things are used. But the eclecticism is only apparent, in fact, everything is very well-balanced and strict. Dissimilar components must be combined:

  • general concept;
  • uniformity of color;

  • duplication of surface textures.

If it is very difficult to find something, it remains only to choose natural forms instead of missing types of furniture. From here come solutions such as:

  • replacement of bedside tables with stumps;

  • using branches as an analogue of a hanger;

  • driftwood as a support for the table top.

Scandinavian style is categorically incompatible with "historical" furniture. This is also due to its prehistory - it is almost impossible to find an old typeface in the Nordic countries. Furniture can be used as vibrant color inclusions. But tones that are too saturated cannot be used.

Individual tastes are best expressed with the help of texture, not color.

Organization of lighting

Whatever furniture is in the bedroom, whatever colors are used, all this will not "play" if mistakes are made in the formation of lighting. The Scandinavian interior shows its own laws here too. Lighting devices are required to:

  • modesty;

  • simplicity;

  • comfort in use;

  • functionality.

Install lamps and lamps only where they are really needed for everyday purposes. At the same time, decorative motives cannot be taken into account. Typically, lighting fixtures in Scandinavian rooms are mounted near armchairs, above desks or on them, on bedside tables near beds. The design options are very diverse, and there is no need to limit your choice to classic lamps. Alternatives include miniature peepholes, giant floor lamps, diffused tubes, and a number of other options.

Very large chandeliers are also quite acceptable. The only requirement is a strict match in style with other items. An excellent version of such a "giant" is a multiply enlarged copy of a white lamp, usually placed on the table. The lines of the luminaire should be completely calm and smooth, sharp corners and sharp edges are excluded.

It should be noted that the functional characteristics of each individual device are more valuable than its appearance. Danes, Norwegians, Swedes think so. At the same time, the selection of similar lamps for the whole house is quite appropriate. This approach makes the home as a whole more harmonious and pleasant. But what exactly cannot be in a Scandinavian bedroom is poor lighting.

If there is not enough light in the interior, the appearance of the room turns out to be unusually gloomy. Sometimes he is even associated with a semi-dark cave or with a monastery cell. The slightest departure from style, even in the smallest detail, is categorically unacceptable.

Optimal luminaires are made in warm colors, giving a monochrome color. The power of the lamps is also important.

Finishing options

The aesthetics of Scandinavian bedrooms, accentuated by lamps, only seem to be extremely difficult. Yes, you will have to level both walls and ceilings to a perfectly smooth state. However, there are options that allow you to significantly save money and achieve a good result. We are talking about such solutions:

  • keeping a part of the brick wall clean with slight alignment;

  • complete rejection of auxiliary elements;

  • wall covering with wooden lining, painted with white paint.

If clapboard or other wooden covering is used, then it should look emphasized rough, as if it was poorly processed. This material will add a touch of comfort to a cold white, gray or olive bedroom. Instead of wood, materials are often used that imitate its texture. Such solutions are cheaper and are almost not inferior in practical properties. A light strip (painted or unpainted, depending on personal preference) is usually placed on the floor.

The cheapest options are linoleum and laminate (especially since the commercial class in this case is not required, you can get by with lower quality brands). Ceramic tiles are used less often. It is more expensive than the same linoleum and laminate, and the choice in this case will be more difficult.As for wall decoration, it is undesirable to use wallpaper.

Usually walls:

  • plaster;

  • whitewash;

  • covered with paint;

  • upholstered with painted plywood.

In a Scandinavian style bedroom, glass sliding doors are appropriate. They are often discarded entirely to improve ventilation and add light. It is not recommended to use expensive cabinet furniture as storage systems, it is much more convenient to open innovative products that are combined in appearance with decoration. It is usually recommended to use not just plain colors, but solutions based on texture and decor. Thanks to them, as well as the maneuvers with color, it is possible to form very pleasant compositions.

Textiles and decor elements

Scandinavian style, contrary to popular belief, is compatible with accessories. However, they should be consumed as little as possible. And therefore, each piece of jewelry has an exclusive role. Its use will have to be thought out well. Good decorative elements should:

  • have natural colors;

  • consist of simple materials;

  • show identity.

Curtains, towels and other textiles are decorated with cells, stripes. It is also useful to take into account the presence of classic national patterns. Blankets, blankets, pillows, bedspreads and all kinds of capes are used to form color accents. The best curtains are those made from lightweight, partially transparent fabric.

Experts advise to choose curtains from turquoise, slightly green and amber fabrics.

The carpet almost completely goes beyond the Scandinavian style. EThe only acceptable option is warm-colored carpets woven from cotton. Other textiles should be of a uniform color without the slightest patterns. It is recommended to choose white and cream accessories for bedrooms. It is advisable to put a small rug in soothing colors by the bed or sofa itself.

Successful examples

When choosing a bedroom composition for a girl, you should take a closer look at such a solution. Of course, not everyone will like the picture on the wall, but it is not difficult to replace it. The principle itself is important. Pure white walls and an elegant vase, a green flower on the window are perfect as a design solution even in the country. However, experts believe that the prospects for such a design in a city apartment are even greater.

An alternative solution can be applied. The bottom line is to use a large number of shelves mounted on a white wall. They will not only accommodate many valuable, necessary things. Together with these things, an elegant composition is formed, with a skillful approach. And this photo clearly shows that even a "heavily cluttered" interior of gray tones can look brilliant if it is thought out to the smallest detail.
