A dressing room is every woman's dream, but not every woman dares to make it a reality. And this is not surprising, because not every apartment and even house has a separate room for clothes. However, to bring this idea to life, it is not at all necessary to have a large apartment - a dressing room can be built in your own bedroom.

It will allow you to store both seasonal items and those that are temporarily not needed. At the same time, they will not wrinkle and will be available for use at any time, which cannot be said about such a storage place as a mezzanine. The intricacies of organizing a dressing room in a bedroom will be discussed later in the article.

Peculiarities

A walk-in closet has many advantages over a conventional wardrobe, which usually serves as a storage space.

  • The walk-in closet gives the owner more space to put things out, so it's easier to categorize them here. In the future, this makes it easier to find the desired toilet part.
  • Several people can take clothes in the dressing room at once. Sometimes this is very important, especially in the morning when the whole family is going to work or school - arguments about who to dress first simply do not arise.
  • Even if after the construction of the dressing room the bedroom space decreases, then it will not cease to be comfortable. Here you can choose a set of clothes in a calm and relaxed atmosphere, having thought it over to the smallest detail.
  • Eliminates the need for the owner to look for things in different closets - they are in one place.
  • The most necessary items of clothing are located near the sleeping place, which is very convenient - having undressed, you can immediately go to bed.
  • If the dressing room, combined with the bedroom, has enough space, then it is possible to hide other useful items necessary for bringing beauty into it. For example, an ironing board with an iron, hair styling accessories, and more. However, if desired, other household items will also hide there, for example, a vacuum cleaner.
  • It has many shelves for shoes, where you can arrange your shoes as conveniently as possible - by season or even by color.
  • With the right approach, the dressing room will not only not spoil the look of the bedroom - it will make it even more attractive, depriving you of the need to keep a lot of "motley" wardrobes in the house.
  • With a variety of modern storage accessories such as poles, clips and more, even a modest room can store a huge amount of stuff.
  • As for the size of the bedroom, which can become a place for a dressing room, it should have an area of about 25, 20 or at least 15 square meters. meters.

Views

Space designers offer different wardrobe models that can perfectly fit into the bedroom setting. Popular solutions such as a built-in wardrobe, which is an integral part of the room., a system fenced off from the main bedroom with sliding doors, a niche in a plasterboard wall, closed by means of various types of doors or simply curtains. We will talk about these and other options in more detail.

Cupboard

The wardrobe can be just a huge wardrobe with many shelves, compartments and rods - this option is a classic. The size and design of such an interior item can be any, it all depends on the tastes of the customer and his capabilities.

If the structure reaches the ceiling itself, then the upper shelves can be allocated for non-seasonal items, and the lower ones for the actual ones.

Standard straight

This option is easy to implement in a large room. Separate part of the room with sliding doors, while the materials for the execution of this idea may also differ. If you install transparent doors, the room will retain its spaciousness, it will seem as large and light, the doors can be either regular or frosted glass. Sliding mirrored doors for a dressing room, accordion doors look very impressive. In general, any type of sliding door will be preferable to swing doors, as they save room space.

Corner

It can have an L-shape, which allows you to save space well, not just through the use of corners, but also through the use of the area under the windows, which often remains empty. Thanks to its unusual shape, your “style island” will give your apartment a unique look. The most popular is another option, when the corner is separated by two walls at right angles - thus a "mini-room" is formed in the room.

Usually, the walls of such structures are preferred to be made of translucent materials that allow at least a little light to pass through. Glass semicircular models also look spectacular, which noticeably transform any room, making it more modern.

Open

The layout of the dressing room may not involve doors, for this, simply fence off the part of the bedroom behind the bed with a modern rack, put a wardrobe, mirrors, shelves there. There is also a plasterboard partition, and it can start at one of the walls and not reach the other, so that there is room for entry, or it can involve two passes at both walls - then its main part will be in the middle.

It is desirable that its width is not too large and does not hide precious centimeters of living space.

Mobile

An even more economical option in terms of space is a mobile hanger. The single-tiered coat hanger bar is positioned approximately 1.5–1.7 meters above the floor. Two-tier boom arrangement is preferable from the point of view of space saving - on one bar, located 2 meters from the floor, hang long things, on the second one meter from the floor - short ones.

There should be free space next to the rods where you can change, and you can separate this room from the rest of the bedroom using a screen. Of course, this option will give you a little space for clothes, and even more so for shoes - you still need a wardrobe for seasonal items.

Location methods

We propose to study the issue of placing a dressing room in the bedroom in more detail. So, the storage space can be located:

  • in the area of any blank wall, where there are no other interior elements;
  • in a bedroom with a considerable area, you can fence off a corner, thus obtaining a dressing room of an unusual shape - a triangular;
  • a dressing room will be no less appropriate along a long wall with a window, then a dressing table can be successfully located in it, since it is better to do makeup while being near a natural source of light;
  • in a long rectangular room, you can put a bed against a large wall, and a dressing room next to it;
  • if the room is large and has a relatively square shape, then an excellent option would be to install a bed in the center of it, and a dressing room behind the headboard, while the wardrobe should have a depth of at least half a meter, and leave at least 70 cm of free space;
  • walk-through dressing room is suitable for a large bedroom with a modern and unusual design, it is located in the middle of the room and is separated by partitions on both sides at once;
  • An interesting option, popular in new-layout apartments, is to use a large loggia adjacent to the bedroom for a dressing room, but then it should not serve as the only source of natural light in the room - it should also have other windows.

Selection recommendations

With the help of these tips, you can successfully place the dressing room in the bedroom, having received not only a functional, but also a beautiful room that will become the highlight of your apartment.

  • Before you start translating your design idea into reality, think about the approximate number of things you have, and which of them are most often found in your arsenal. Some of them only need shelves, others are more convenient to hang on hangers, on rods, while others are preferable to store in pull-out drawers or even open baskets. So, trousers fit more compactly if they are hanging on hangers, but cashmere, on the contrary, is folded.
  • Find the best place for your future wardrobe. The preferred places for a dressing room in the bedroom are the area behind the head of the bed and the wall to the side of the entrance.
  • The correct dimensions of the future structure must be determined in advance, and not in the process of implementing the idea. Calculate the parameters so that there is enough free space near the shelves with things and shoes to walk along them and choose things.

It is recommended to leave at least 70 cm of "air", and if drawers are provided, then there should be even more free space.

  • When the calculations of the project are completed, you can proceed to the most enjoyable and interesting stage - the choice of design. Someone wants to hide this interior object in a "secret corner" and not show it to anyone, but someone likes to turn any element of the furnishings into an art object - then the dressing room will not be an exception. You can decorate it in vibrant colors, with trendy pin-up designs, lettering and other catchy details.
  • Separately, it is worth noting the external decor of the dressing room in the bedroom. Anyone who does not like monotonous colors and an overly strict style of furnishings can show imagination and give their dressing room a truly exclusive look.

If it is formed by means of a plasterboard partition without a door, then you can paste over the resulting walls with wallpaper to your liking, or paint them. Inside, your creative fervor can no longer be held back, because this is your personal space, and it can look whatever you want. The main thing is that in this environment you would like to come up with new images and transform. In order not to get confused with the assortment of things, cover the drawers with clippings from magazines that indicate the contents: there are sweaters here, there are shoes, and so on.

There are many options for decorating a dressing room. If the size allows, then vases with dried flowers or even fresh flowers, paintings, photographs that inspire you to create vivid images - for example, images of Paris or portraits of stylish women famous all over the world - can decorate it.

Be sure to keep order in your little "universe" so that it doesn't get mired in chaos. If you put everything strictly in its place, then the process of changing clothes will not only be faster, but also more enjoyable. If you are lucky enough to have so many storage systems for your clothes, it is a sin not to use them to their maximum efficiency.

Lighting options

Think carefully about lighting your wardrobe area. No one likes to scour the dark in search of the right thing, and even more so when it comes to a place specially equipped for clothes. Ideally, you need to make additional wiring that will make the lighting as comfortable as possible. If there is free space, put beautiful lamps that will be arranged so that you can clearly see yourself in the mirror. In contrast to the closet in the dressing room, you can mount good bright lamps that will help you navigate well.

If you do not have the opportunity to conduct additional wires for the lamps, then you should not fill the floor with extension cords - there are modern light sources that do not require a network connection. These can be LED strips or small wall lights.

Interesting examples

A popular solution is to place a dressing room behind the headboard of the bed, which stands in the center of the room. In this case, a small partition extends directly from the bed, unobtrusively zoning the room.

Ideally, if your bedroom allows you to separate so much space for a dressing room that things can be arranged in two rows opposite each other. Bars, shelves and storage systems allow you to create the perfect world of things, where each item has its own place.

By arranging the walls of the dressing room in the form of a right angle (like a shower stall), you can achieve an excellent result. The main thing is that the doors are equipped with a light sliding system, and you do not have to apply force every time you need to change. This option is good for small apartments.

This is how, by separating the corner of the room with a straight wall, you can get a triangular dressing room of an interesting design. It is not only functional and saves space - this solution looks very aesthetically pleasing.

        If you want only you to see the dressing room, and this place always remained hidden from prying eyes, use a curtain. In this version, they complement the pastel color scheme of the overall interior of the room and ideally hide the wardrobe.
