When two children live in a small area, the two-tiered arrangement of sleeping places will free up the territory for games and study. If in the daytime you want to see a room not for sleeping, but for full wakefulness, then it is better that the lower tier is represented by a sofa with a transformation into a full-fledged sleeping place.

This design is called "loft bed" due to the stairs leading to the upper bed, as if to the attic in a private house.

Peculiarities

Loft beds with a sofa downstairs are most often used in children's rooms. But similar models can be found in the home of adults or one or two adolescents. Sometimes a two-story building is intended for parents and a child.

Sofas, as a rule, have a folding function and become double for sleeping... The different tasks that loft beds have to solve affect their appearance and design features.

And yet, a feature of loft beds is not just a banal arrangement of two sleeping places: above and below. Sometimes it is a whole complex of furniture, compactly accommodating in a small area everything that is needed for one or two, and sometimes more children. It can contain a sofa, wardrobes, cabinets, desk and armchair.

In such an abundance of furniture, children are not at all cramped, since the finding of each item is thought out by the designers to the smallest detail.

Children are delighted with such complexes, because they have stairs and secluded places, you can have fun, throw out your energy, and then relax on a comfortable sofa with pleasure.

Often, loft beds are accompanied by an abundance of storage spaces., which is highly appreciated by adults who teach children to order. Indeed, in such a headset, you can find a place for every thing.

The market provides the consumer with a large number of loft bed options complete with a sofa. It is easy to choose the right size, shape, color and stylistic focus.

Sometimes the specifics of the room or the needs of the child require a special design and location of sleeping places. In such cases, it is better to turn to an individual project.

This will increase costs, but it will bring joy to exclusive, child-specific furniture.

Choosing a loft bed with a sofa for small children, you can pay attention to thematic models, in the design of which cars, trains, carriages are guessed. This approach will appeal to kids. But it should be remembered that children grow up, and the furniture will have to be changed pretty soon... Those who do not want to bother themselves with such troubles can immediately choose a more impressive design, with a neutral appearance. If it is to be used by preschool children, the product should be carefully checked for safety.

The bed should be equipped with a high side, and the stairs should be spacious and comfortable.

Design options

Structurally, loft beds with sofas can be divided into three main groups.

  1. Built-in option, when all structural items are fastened together and represent a monolithic set. Furniture cannot be separated and moved, which ensures the safety of children, but creates certain inconveniences for adults. For example, you cannot replace a sofa that parents think is less suitable, you cannot change the position of shelves or drawers. True, such restrictions are offset by the significant choice offered at the furniture center at the time of ordering the product. At this point, you can immediately discuss the number of pieces of furniture, color, upholstery.
  2. The second option is presented mobile kit... Furniture is built like a designer, but at the same time its position can be changed at the request of users, since it is isolated and not fastened together.
  3. The third option is the most compact, offered for rooms with the smallest floor space... It is a transforming sofa. It looks like an ordinary sofa, which with the onset of night becomes foldable into a special design with an additional upper berth.

In addition to the main types, loft beds with sofas differ in purpose, size, shape and other features. They can be with a niche, with a roll-out additional place. It is more convenient to consider the variety of products that solve various problems with examples.

Types of sofas

Structures may contain different types of upholstered furniture:

  • models with a straight sofa.
  • loft beds with corner sofa.

Steps with drawers

A comfortable, durable ladder with a secure handrail has spacious drawers under each step. Such the structure can become a storage place for a large number of things nor does it take up much space.

Working area design

      To place a table and a sleeping place in the lower tier, the sofa should be small in size, but have a transformation function in front of it. This allows you to get a full-fledged berth at the time of unfolding.

        With wardrobe

        As in the previous version, the sofa should be small. The bed of the second tier is located above the upholstered furniture and becomes the roof of the cabinet. Structures of such a plan can have a cabinet with straight facades or sideways.

        With headset

        In such cases, the bed-wardrobe, in addition to a full-fledged sofa, may have wardrobes, pencil cases, a chest of drawers, shelves and drawers.

        Perpendicular berths

        In some versions of two-story structures, sofas are not installed along the upper bed, but perpendicular to it.

        Model with two sofas

        Three-seater structure with two sofa beds and an upper large bed. The product contains two equal cabinets, shelves and drawers.

        Overview of stair types

        Loft beds are available for different age categories. Ladders for small users are different from teenage models. They are reliable, stable, have strong railings and gradual ascent of steps, while large beds are endowed with devices with vertical rise.

        All stairs have the same requirements:

        • the stability and reliability of the stairs themselves;
        • strong connections with the structure body;
        • non-slip steps;
        • a minimum of traumatic protrusions, corners and protruding mountings;
        • handrails are required for children's options.
        • The ladder must be appropriate for the age category of the bed model.

        Lifting devices can be of different types, let's dwell on them in more detail.

        Vertical

        This type of lifting device is designed for adults, as well as children of older and middle age categories. It takes up a minimum of space and is suitable for models for small spaces. Ladders can be located both from the front of the bed and from the side. They are not always equipped with handrails.

        When choosing a model, you should pay attention that the steps at the vertical staircase are flat and not rounded. The material from which the steps are made must not slip.

        Attached

        Unlike vertical ladders, ladders are sloped towards the bed, making it much easier to climb up them. Sometimes such models have small railings, but more often they do without them. The product can be removable or stationary. Detachable models are firmly fixed and pose no danger.

        Catwalk

        The staircase for such models reaches only half of the loft bed and rests against a small platform, the so-called podium, from which it is not at all difficult to climb onto the upper bed.

        Staircase-furniture

        The most popular, safe and practical way of getting to the upper bed is organized by a convenient ladder, each step of which is equipped with a drawer or open shelf. Such designs can be combined (with open and closed cells). They can be in the form of a rack or chest of drawers.

        Materials (edit)

        To create loft beds, choose solid wood or materials that look like wood - chipboard, MDF. The latter significantly reduce the cost of the design, but at the same time they look good and serve for a long time. They are covered with veneer imitating any type of wood, even the most exotic ones.

        Steel frames are often used to create loft beds.

        The iron model looks elegant, can handle heavy loads and is often used for large items.

        Dimensions (edit)

        Loft beds with sofas are available in different sizes. They can be designed for two or three people. Their parameters depend on the age, the size of the steps and the completeness of additional pieces of furniture.

        The upper bed can be from 160 cm to 220 cm in length... Folded rectilinear sofas are installed under the upper berth and do not always repeat its dimensions. The length of the folding or sliding upholstered furniture of the lower tier is from 100 to 220 cm and contains 1.5-2-3 seats. If the structure is equipped with a compact sofa, it is complemented by a wardrobe or table located on the ground floor.

        When unfolded, the upholstered furniture turns into a double or one-and-a-half bed, its parameters can be 160x180 (200) cm, 180x200 cm, 200x210 cm. If loft beds become overgrown with furniture sets, their sizes become unpredictable and will depend on the customer's wishes.

        Design options

        The loft bed is hard to miss in the interior, in most cases it becomes the dominant part of it.

        It is important that color and style are taken into account in choosing the design of the model and make up a coherent whole with the environment.

        In addition to the general design, the designs are age-specific, and can also be intended for girls or boys, which also affects their appearance.

        As examples, we will give models of various stylistic orientations.

        • Product for girls in Provence style.
        • Design of a room for adults with a loft bed and a sofa.
        • Loft direction in a teen's room.
        • Stylish bedroom for a boy.
        • Country bedroom for four people.
        • In the design of the loft bed in the style of minimalism, three equal colors are effectively used - white, black and red.
        • The marine theme is used in the rooms of both boys and girls.
        • Scandinavian style in the bedroom.

        When choosing a loft bed, the energy of the child is taken into account. In the design of models for fidgets, you can often find elements of the Swedish wall in the form of crossbars, rope ladders and ropes, and frameless products are selected as sofas. For calm children, classic options are suitable, embodying restrained beauty and good taste.

        Adults prefer a modern stylish environment and often use high-tech, loft, and minimalist styles. Romantic young ladies choose Provence or shabby chic.

        Selection recommendations

        Before choosing a loft bed with a sofa, you need to clearly understand what tasks the product will have to solve. The purchase is influenced by the age qualification, the number of users, additional design options, for example, the presence of shelves or wall bars.

        The models can be designed for users from one to four people. The sole owner of the loft bed has a sofa for daytime use.... If the product is purchased for a child and parents, you should choose a sofa with a double berth.

        Designs for four people have different modifications. The simplest of them are corner ones, located in two floors near two adjacent walls.

        Adults choose models for themselves that support the overall design of the room. For children, a thematic choice is possible - a princess castle for a girl or a deck of a ship for a boy.

        For small spaces, simple beds with clear geometry and vertical stairs are suitable... If space permits, you can pay attention to a suite with a built-in loft bed. A multifunctional set of furniture will fully satisfy the needs of users in storage space.

        In addition to target opportunities, when choosing loft beds, you should pay attention to other criteria:

        • the product should not be too large in relation to the dimensions of the room, otherwise it will dominate the surrounding environment;
        • the side and the ladder must have a reliable structure and ensure the safety of the child;
        • mattresses of beds with orthopedic "filling" have a positive effect on healthy sleep;
        • the product that is bought for babies should not have protruding corners, sharp fasteners and sliding stairs.

        Examples in the interior

        Loft beds with a sofa are not only functional, but also spectacular, they can decorate any room. To be convinced of this, we propose to consider beautiful examples of two-story structures.

        • Extravagant white furniture with perpendicular sleeping arrangements.
        • Cozy children's room in a large common room.
        • Children love house designs with private spaces.
        • Simple and beautiful furniture that successfully combines white and red.
        • Stylish set with shelves and podium stairs.

        Also, as an example, we propose to consider a mini-room for two children, arranged in one of the studio apartments according to an individual project.

        If several children live in the house, it is better for them to choose not just a loft bed, but with a sofa. Firstly, because in the daytime such a structure turns the bedroom into a full-fledged children's room, and secondly, thanks to the transformation of the sofa, not a two-seater, but a three-seater structure is acquired.
