How to decorate a bed with your own hands?

The center of any bedroom is the bed. And many people want to make it a little brighter, a little more individual, so that the place of peace, comfort and sweet dreams was even more beautiful. If the furniture itself is typical, it seems to require laconic decor, additions, exclusivity. All this can be done by hand using a variety of tools.

Ways of how exactly to transform a bed in a bedroom can be roughly divided into simple and complex. Simple ones do not require the use of special equipment (drills, paints, brushes, etc.), but are limited to a simple fixation on the headboard, for example. This is done with hanging a garland or decorating the bed with soft toys. But complex methods are multi-stage decorating processes.

Not every bed has a headboard. Especially if the sofa has become a bed (perhaps temporarily), and the side walls have been removed. Or the owners simply don't like the factory headboard. Then you can do it yourself. A simple option is rack doors from the building market. They do not even need to be nailed to anything, it is enough just to put them to the wall and clamp them with the bed. The height of these doors can be adjusted by placing something under them and removing them. They can be painted, artificially aged, stained, etc.

Or there is another option: remove the shutters from the old village house, restore them and also make a new headboard. And if this is not just someone's house, but a grandmother's, for example, then such a decision will allow the owner to stay longer with a part of his childhood, which is already living a new life.

A well-worn wooden headboard may need renovation.And one of the options for such a repair is leather upholstery (artificial or natural). It seems that this should only be done in the workshop, but it is not. Observing the video instructions, making the correct cut, purchasing high-quality fasteners, the upholstery can be done independently.

This seems to be the easiest way to decorate any bed: metal or wood. Even old and not very fashionable furniture is transformed by current textiles. Today, special emphasis is placed on natural fabrics, laconic natural colors. Linen and knitted bedspreads with ethnic ornaments, for example, are synchronized with the interior request of the time.

In addition to the bedspread, you can use covers and pillowcases for the top pillows. Moreover, there can be not one, but two bedspreads: the second will cover the bed surface by one third. And if you update the bedside rug, then the bedroom space can seriously change. It's a good idea to make textiles a seasonal decor. For example, change the bedspread in autumn colors to winter or even New Year's, then choose something blooming, symbolizing spring. In late spring, you can purchase a bright, juicy fabric for summer. It helps to update the bedroom without renovation without fatigue in the same way.

Shelves above the bed are a common solution and not the worst. These can be both functional bookshelves (high enough to get up without hitting them), and decorative ones, on which only a couple of cute knick-knacks can fit. By the way, such decorative shelves are sometimes made of polyurethane foam skirting boards. You can even paint them, and no one will guess what kind of material it is.

Above the children's bed, you can make the famous Scandinavian-style wooden shelves: narrow, with a bar behind which you can put books "face". And a couple of your favorite toys will also fit nearby. Books can also become shelves: 2-3 in a stack, they must be glued together and attached to the wall at the corners. They look interesting, and they are quite functional. You can hang them in a checkerboard pattern.

Sometimes such simple, surface-based solutions turn out to be the most successful. Drawings are not necessarily complex, professional paintings. It is important to find good frames that will in some way overlap with the design of the bed.

You can hang a rope (braid, jute, ribbon) over the back, and on it - small drawings on decorative clothespins. No frame is required and everything is done quickly and easily. The exposure can be changed.

This idea is good because wooden headboards and other convenient parts of the bed can be almost professionally transformed by a person who does not even remember when holding a brush. The main thing is to prepare the surface for paint application: you may need more than just degreasing. Acrylic paints are usually used. It is possible that the surface will eventually have to be varnished.

An alternative to a stencil is a cutout. A symmetrical pattern is cut out of colored paper. It is neatly glued to the same back, and then fixed with a varnish layer. So an ordinary bed will acquire an ethno style, which is very fashionable today. Subsequently, the same pattern (or its motive) can be repeated somewhere else: for example, on a wooden box, on the front door, even on the window.

Young mothers also want to decorate standard cribs for newborns. But not with heavy bumpers-dust collectors, but with something healthier and more relevant.

Let's see what is suitable as a bed decoration for a small child:

• interior stickers with infant themes;
• an ornament applied through a stencil;
• handmade knitted blanket (at first you can take it for discharge, there are options for both boys and girls, and neutral ones);
• "Curly" soft toys with a wire inside: they can be fixed along the slats in the crib.

If the child is already out of infancy, then under the bottom of his bed you can put a garland on and light it in the evenings. This option, by the way, is perfect for beds made up of pallets. And children often become owners of cottage beds, the design of which is already decorative in itself. A garland will make such a house even more comfortable, only you need to choose a good design so that the light is dim.

You can also make a simple decor at home: for example, decorate the crib with a garland of felt toys. You can also sew them by hand, because the fabric does not fray, it is very pliable and strong enough.

Bunk beds have become popular not very long ago, but the demand for them has increased rapidly. The work area is usually located on the lower floor, but the top is the bed itself. The second floor can be decorated with a garland, but this is not the only solution.

Other ideas:

• build a composition of interior stickers;
• make a frill in the form of a very short curtain;
• in winter, you can make a garland of cones, thuja twigs, powdered with artificial snow;
• for a bunk bed, zoning (including color) may be an important point, and therefore the bedspreads and pillows of the lower floor can be made in one shade, and the upper one in another;
• teenagers might like the origami modules above the second floor.

The decor can be found for the most modest crib, for retro-style iron furniture, and for typical modern models. This is proved by the examples that helped to transform the interior at the expense of the bed.

• A real garden or forest, whose contours are visible in your own bedroom, is someone's dream come true. Together with lights and pendant houses, it turns out magically. Immediately you do not notice an old bed of modest size, rather restrained and simple design.

• Flags and a very delicate picture above the bed, a beautiful canopy - and nothing else is needed for this girlish place. The picture is very competently matched by colors, flags also make up a pair of canopy. Colored ones would be overkill.

• A laconic shelf with your favorite photos, a small garland on the theme of celestial bodies, lights and two bedside lamps. And there seems to be a lot of everything, but it looks restrained, modest and cozy.

• This is not a stencil (although this option is also possible), but vinyl interior stickers. Without them, the wall would look bare, and this is how harmony and completeness of design thought appeared.

• The theme of the branches used for homemade pendants cannot get boring. Because such a natural decor is always appropriate in such intimate spaces as a bedroom.

• One railing (or cornice), on which pillows that form the headboard hang on ribbons, are easy to find and screw on. The option is very cozy, suitable for a dark narrow bedroom that lacks light and color.
