Bedside tables for the bedroom are comfortable and, of course, a must. They have a lot of purposes, and they are also easy to use. This element of the interior is necessary in every bedroom, we will talk about the varieties and selection in this article.

Why do you need a table?

In the bedroom, in addition to the details of direct use, secondary items deserve attention, which many forget about or do not even know what they are for. These items include the bedside table. It can be either on legs or on casters for easy movement around the room, if it is supposed to change its location. The main purpose of the bedside table for the bedroom is as follows:

  • mainly an alarm clock, a lamp, a mobile phone with a charger, a laptop, a tablet, a glass of water, glasses, etc. are placed on it;
  • the appearance of the table can decorate the interior of the entire bedroom, since there is a huge selection of different models on sale; picking up something unique and original will not be difficult;
  • for those who combine a bedroom with a dining room and a workplace, such a table is perfect, because you can eat on it and work with a laptop;
  • can be used as a stand for indoor plants or a TV; this is a good option if you have found a table that perfectly matches the interior design, but you could not find a TV table.

Materials (edit)

Such a table can be made of any material, from chipboard to forged or glass. Let's consider the most common materials for the manufacture of these items.

Metal

Metal products look elegant and strict at the same time. Such tables do not need a lot of space and can be made according to an individual sketch. But there is a conditional drawback - weight. Quality metal products have a good weight. Metal tables are not suitable for all interior solutions.

As a rule, they are placed in bedrooms, which are designed in modern styles. In classic settings, metal does not always look harmonious.

Wood

The first pieces of furniture were made of wood, therefore they are considered the most durable. They fit well into any interior. Natural wood tables are beautiful, reliable and durable, but require special care. So that external factors do not have a negative impact on them, furniture must be treated with specialized antiseptic agents. Thanks to them, the products will not crack, soak when in contact with moisture. In addition, the tables will not be attacked by pests (tree pests).

Tables can be made from different types of wood. The production uses birch, oak, pine, walnut, alder. All of these materials produce high-quality and strong products of high quality, but they will be expensive. They also make tables from rattan. Connoisseurs of quality material will definitely get themselves a bedside table from this breed. It can be made of any shape and complexity. Rattan, unpretentious to care for, is lightweight, which will allow it to be frequently and effortlessly moved around the room.

Glass

The glass tables are beautiful and sophisticated. They look good in different styles of interior, easily fit into many environments... Modern models are made of glass that cannot be broken just like that, although this, of course, can be done, so you still have to be careful. Glass bedside tables are stylish and aesthetically pleasing, but they will have to be constantly looked after. Dust quickly accumulates on their surface - it will need to be regularly washed from the table.

If fingerprints remain on this furniture, they will also immediately catch the eye. The slightest contamination will attract a lot of attention, so you cannot do without constant cleaning procedures.

Plastic

Currently, manufacturers make good quality plastic furniture, but this is not a guarantee of its durability. Before buying plastic furniture it is necessary to make sure that there is no toxicity by looking at the quality certificates.

Chipboard

Furniture made of laminated chipboard is considered "stereotyped" and looks boring. It is short-lived. The material itself is recognized as toxic and undesirable for use in sleeping rooms and constant stay in it. It is also not recommended to use this material in children's rooms. This is due to the peculiarities and low cost of production, which uses formaldehyde resins, which, when heated on hot days, release toxic substances. At the same time, this material is cheap and widespread.

There is a safer and more environmentally friendly type of material - laminated chipboard of class E1. The formaldehyde content in it is minimal. It can be used in bedrooms and nurseries, but visually in a store it will not be possible to distinguish it from a cheap option. It is rarely used due to its high cost, and under the guise of E1 it is most often given out as a cheap analogue. Make sure that in front of you is furniture made of laminated chipboard of class E1, only by asking the seller for a quality certificate... If they cannot provide it for some reason, it is undesirable to make a purchase in this store.

MDF

Another of the affordable and environmentally friendly materials for the production of furniture structures is MDF. It can imitate a variety of materials, durable and visually pleasing.

Sizes and shapes

Sizes, as well as forms, this household item has a huge variety. All dimensions and configurations can be selected for yourself, taking into account the scope of its application, the place of permanent deployment and the size of the room itself. If the main purpose of the bedside table is to place only a lamp and an alarm clock on it, then it may be small. When the bedroom has a large area and most of the time is spent in it, then you need a large table with many multifunctional shelves and stands. To make such tables comfortable to use, they should not be less than standard size parameters.

  • Height Is an important parameter. If the table is too high, it will be inconvenient to use. For a symmetrical and aesthetic appearance of the room, the height of the table should be equal to the height of the bed. The optimal parameter is 60 cm.
  • Width. This value depends on the dimensions of the bed itself. Next to a single model or a lorry, a bedside table with a width of 40-60 cm will be optimal. In combination with a double bed or larger, the width can vary from 60 to 100 cm. A width of 30 cm is suitable for placing a small number of small items.
  • Length. This parameter depends on the purpose of the product and its area of application. If only the arrangement of objects is planned, then it is desirable that the depth does not exceed 50 cm.

Designer bedside tables can have unusual, bizarre shapes, and you need to find a product that fits well in a certain place. These pieces of furniture can be presented in several forms.

  • Square model is considered a standard piece, suitable for any premises. It can be made in a classic or any other version. This model will look lovely in almost any bedroom.

It is recognized as convenient for constant use, versatile, well suited as a bedside table for small household appliances.

  • Round model recognized as a universal choice for a modestly squared room. A similar variety can be placed not only on the side of the bed, but also in the corner areas. A table like this often takes up empty space.
  • Non-standard forms. These instances can be made in the form of a pyramid or rectangle. Tables with a broken structure are considered popular. Such products are purchased exclusively for decorative purposes, as they look beautiful and unusual.

Design options

A bedside table is a must. They are not alike in different styles.

  • In a minimalistic style Tables made of metal, rattan or "good" plastic fit well. Most often they have a calm, dim color. White is often used. In a small room, it is not necessary to install 2 elements, when you can get by with one, which will add uniqueness to the space.
  • In the bedroom made country style, you can install furniture in natural colors from materials of natural origin. This model should be as massive as possible, sustained in a "rustic" key.
  • When the style of the room reflects a certain culture (for example, Japan), it should be visible in all elements of furniture, including small tables.
  • Classic style a table made of natural wood with carved details will look gorgeous.

How to choose?

When looking for a bedside table, you need to pay attention to the following features:

  • decide in advance which model of the bedside table you want to buy - stationary or mobile (on wheels);
  • choose models from high quality materials; they must be environmentally friendly, safe, reliable;
  • pay due attention to the design of the selected furniture, here you need to build on the style in which the interior of the room is implemented as a whole; for example, a chrome-plated table will look inappropriate in a classic setting, and an antique-styled carved tabletop will not fit into a modern style;
  • look at the table carefully - it must be produced in perfect quality; take a look at all surfaces of the selected product - if you notice scratches, creases, frayed areas or chips on them, then it is better not to buy the product and visit another furniture store;
  • make sure of the high-quality assembly of the product - the table should not sway or make creaking noises, the structure should be stable and strong, if you have the slightest doubt about the quality, it is better not to buy such furniture;
  • it is recommended to buy branded furniture from well-known brands, such bedside tables usually have a high price, but they are worth it; branded versions are made in good quality, look more solid and last longer.

Interesting examples

Bedside tables in the bedrooms complement the overall picture and make the interior more harmonious and complete. They fit well with a variety of styles.

  • Small square bedside tables and white color will look interesting near a laconic white bed with a high snow-white headboard decorated with quilted embroidery. Furniture in these colors will stand out and attract more attention if it is placed against a dark accent wall, for example, dark emerald.

On the tables you can put an alarm clock and a small pot with a plant.

  • A small round table in golden metal will find its place next to a double bed with blue pillows and linens, a gray bedspread against a backdrop of light walls and a white ceiling. On such a table, you can define a small lamp or decorative vase.
  • A square bedside table on metal legs will be a great addition to a large double bed in black and white (with a predominance of white on the bedding). On such a table there will be enough space for a striped bedside lamp with fresh flowers in pots.

It all looks great against the backdrop of a white room with large mirrors.

  • Minimalistic, rough, angular tables in snow-white colors will complement a white bed with a high soft headboard. Against the background of a light finish, such a tandem will look too whitish, so in order to dilute it, you need to lay a black blanket, and put large table lamps with blue lampshades on the tables.
