People spend a significant part of their lives in the bedroom. Therefore, such a pastime should be as comfortable as possible. One of the main conditions for this is proper lighting. In addition to influencing a person, it can radically change a room and its visual perception.

Peculiarities

It is believed that the atmosphere in the bedroom should be as relaxing as possible. Too bright light has the exact opposite effect - it irritates the nervous system, causing muscle tension. It is definitely impossible to relax in such an environment, and even more so - to have a good rest.

Do not forget that, in addition to sleep, the bedroom is often equipped with places for work, leisure, beauty.

This is especially true in conditions of a modest area or the peculiarities of the free layout of modern apartments. If there is not enough light for life, not only vision and the hormonal system will suffer, but also the mental state - neuroses and depression may appear.

In order not to depend on the time of day or the weather, special attention should be paid to artificial lighting. Among the lamps you can find wall, table and even floor lamps. But the main load falls on the ceiling lighting fixtures.

Stretch ceilings are a suitable surface for almost any artificial lighting source.

In this case, it is possible to install the luminaires without harming the ceiling. Besides the stretched canvas will easily hide any fasteners, wires and other communications... It has long been proven that such ceilings are safe, so they can be safely used to decorate a bedroom.

There are two main types of stretch ceilings - glossy and matte, and each type has its own characteristics.

  • Glossy. They are more reflective and give a lot of possibilities for creating unusual lighting effects. However, they also attract more attention - due to glare, reflection of objects. Despite the spectacular appearance, you will need to get used to the glossy surface of the ceiling.
  • Matte. They are inferior in reflective characteristics to glossy ones. But such a surface is more suitable for relaxation, does not attract attention and is a universal option.

Lighting options

Generally artificial lighting can be divided into:

  • general (referring to the whole room);
  • zonal (for a specific part);
  • decorative (not functional, used as decoration).

General lighting makes the interior of the bedroom coherent. In addition, it is in this version that the light is evenly distributed, there are no shadows, contrasting drops. General lighting is the most comfortable for the eyes. In this case, two types of luminaires are used.

Suspended

These include chandeliers and similar models. When choosing a stretch ceiling, many people are wary of choosing bulky lighting fixtures. Actually almost all of their types are attached directly to the ceiling slab and do not exert a load on the stretched canvas... This traditional variation is still one of the most popular. Modern chandeliers can have an original shape with one or more multidirectional lamps.

Overhead or mortise

This large group should include the increasingly popular point models - spots, soffits. Several of these ceiling lights can be positioned along the walls or in any other order in accordance with the design idea.

Today it is rare to find only one chandelier on the ceiling, usually it is supplemented with small lamps. This option for general lighting is especially convenient if, if necessary, it is necessary to turn on groups of lighting fixtures separately.

Zone lighting is necessary if the bedroom combines the functions of a dressing room, a cabin and a rest room. Then the general lighting may simply not be enough to do a certain job. In this case, you can additionally highlight a work or computer table, a creative zone, a dressing table, a wardrobe, a bed or a sofa.

Hanging ceiling lights, wall sconces, or table lamps can be used for more detailed lighting.

Lighting as one of the zoning techniques is often used by designers. In this case, the luminaires may not carry a functional load, but only highlight part of the room - for this, spotlights are more suitable. Models with a rotary mechanism have an additional advantage, in which the direction of the light can be changed. Sometimes wall paintings and other interior items that should be paid attention to are illuminated in this way.

For decorative lighting, LED strips are most often used. There is little light from them, but they can be used to decorate the bedroom in an unusual way. Such lighting is usually used as a backlight. Color bright options should be selected with great care. Despite the showiness, it is not very pleasant to be in the bedroom for a long time with the contrast lighting turned on.

    Location of bulbs

The most common design option is combined, in which pendant and recessed luminaires are mixed. This can be seen in the example of a chandelier and spotlights along the wall. The laptop and makeup tables are equipped with additional lamps. This arrangement is the most functional.

It is believed that a chandelier must be present in a classic-style interior.

There are many layouts with a chandelier or any other large light fixture. It is believed that the most voluminous lighting fixtures are best positioned in the center.

A lot of room for imagination arises when placing small lamps. There are many different schemes, but there are no clear rules in this matter. They can be placed in any order relative to each other. Most often, straight lines are built of them, less often - curved, repeating the outlines of any object in the interior.

Ceilings can be not only single-level. Height differences in ceilings with two or three levels should be emphasized with backlighting. In the same style, any relief, ledges, niches and other architectural features of the bedroom are emphasized. With the help of hidden lighting, you can create the effect of soaring, taking off.

Any lamps located along the perimeter of the ceiling visually raise it, making the room more spacious.

With the help of light, even the most ordinary stretch ceiling can be turned into a work of art. A prime example is the night sky across the entire ceiling area or just above the bed.

The translucent ceiling can be illuminated from the inside - options with photo printing look especially original. By a similar principle, light patterns can be made on the ceiling. Turned on separately, this light looks very soft and has a relaxing effect.

    How to choose?

With the right lighting, you can change any space, including your bedroom.

    • For a small room you need one chandelier or several spotlights. In a large room, you can use several types of lamps at once, skillfully combining them with each other.
    • Lamps located along the walls raise the low ceiling, the same effect has a glossy finish. So that the shiny canvas does not dazzle with glare, both artificial and natural lighting should be adjusted (use opaque curtains, direct the light down from the ceiling).
    • To feel comfortable in the bedroom, lighting standards must be observed... In this respect, the bedroom is placed on a par with the living room, kitchen and other living quarters, therefore the figure here is quite high - not less than 150 Lx. In order to find out if there is enough light, it is necessary to assess how the resulting value differs from the indicators of the luminous flux of the lamps in their total sum. Based on these calculations, you can increase or decrease the number of lamps, or take more powerful lamps. However, complex calculations can be dispensed with.

If you have to strain your eyes in the bedroom, or after several hours of being inside the mood changes towards a depressive one, this is a reason to think about additional lighting.

    • Not all ideas can be translated into reality. There are some technical limitations that must be taken into account even at the stage of developing the wiring diagram. For example, for all luminaires, an indent from the edge and seams of the stretch fabric is required. In the case of a stretch ceiling, it is impossible to change the location of the luminaires, since a cutout is made for each of them. Care should be taken when replacing them.

Of course, all lighting design depends on individual taste and wishes. It is necessary to ensure that the interior looks whole, and that all its parts are harmoniously combined with each other. Light should emphasize mood and style - be it a classic or a modern trend.
