The curtain rod in the bathroom is one of the items that, in some cases, cannot be avoided. If the room has a corner radius bathtub, then you will need to install a semicircular cornice.

And for a round, located in the center of the room or against a wall, you need a circular version... In some cases, curtain and round curtain rails are installed over shower trays. We will tell you how to choose semicircular and round bathroom curtain rods.

Peculiarities

Semicircular bathroom cornices, as opposed to straight ones, are attached not to opposite walls of the room, but to adjacent, therefore, they do not use a telescopic (sliding) mechanism with a spring. In a similar way, straight rods for the curtain are often fixed between the walls.

This method of fastening is very simple, but not very reliable, therefore the telescopic rods with a spring are not recommended for rooms visited by children.

Some models of arched cornices have a telescopic mechanism, but they are fastened to the wall with self-tapping screws.

The installation of semicircular cornices will definitely require drilling the walls, and in some cases the ceiling, since such structures are often additionally fixed with vertical hangers. This is necessary for greater reliability of fastening in the event that the semicircular cornice is made of an aluminum-based alloy, which is a rather soft metal. Without additional hangers, the aluminum structure can gradually sag under the weight of the curtain.

Ceiling fixing (at least 3 points) is required for large diameter round curtain rods.Eaves with smaller diameters can also be attached to adjacent walls. Small ones are mounted on two brackets in one wall.

Also on sale there is arched cornicesthat are mounted between opposite walls. These curtain bars have a very small ledge - the standard is 15 cm. They are suitable for rectangular baths installed in small rooms.

A slight curvature of the rod gives more space behind the curtain, which is very convenient.

Overview of varieties

Radial bathroom curtain rods are of two types:

  • tough;
  • flexible.

The second type is, as a rule, universal structures, which during assembly can be given any shape, including arched (semicircular). To do this, you just need to bend the profile according to a previously prepared template, which is made taking into account the shape of the bathroom. Such curtain rods are made of aluminum alloy. Semicircular and round rigid curtain hanging structures are in most cases made of steel.

Metal curtain rods are made in different colors:

  • chromium;
  • White;
  • gold;
  • silver;
  • bronze;
  • black, etc.

The first two are usually found in standard models, the rest of the colors, as a rule, can be selected when ordering goods for an individual project.

The curtain rod is sometimes supplied with hooks / rings for the curtain. Otherwise, they are purchased separately. Curtain rings / hooks can be of several types:

  • closed - put on the cornice before the completion of the installation process;
  • with locking mechanism - allow you to remove the curtain without removing the cornice;
  • open - a convenient option for attaching the curtain, but there is a possibility that it will be possible to accidentally unhook the curtain fabric from several rings / hooks if it is pulled or opened abruptly.

Also, the curtain can be held on the crossbar using eyelets - rings that are sewn into the canvas itself.

The manufacturer usually indicates whether, if necessary, the arc and suspension can be cut to size, if included.

According to the number of rows, semicircular cornices are single-row or double-row. On two-row, you can hang 2 rows of curtains, or you can use a second arch for towels.

Materials (edit)

The main materials from which round and semicircular structures are made are:

  • stainless steel;
  • painted steel;
  • Aluminium alloy;
  • plastic.

Completely plastic structures are rare in these types of cornices; individual parts are sometimes made of plastic.

The most reliable option is stainless steel.

Examples in the interior

Semicircular and round bathroom cornice - it is not only a functional element in the interior, but also a decorative one. Therefore, when choosing it, it is necessary to pay attention not only to the technical characteristics, but also to how well it will combine with the rest of the objects in the room.

If the cornice is metal, then it is better to choose it in the color of the plumbing fixtures (mixers, taps, pipes, etc.).

Round bathroom cornice can be a very significant detail in interiors decorated in different styles. It can be installed both over bathtubs and over shower trays. Such a cornice is an important element in the decor of the room, since a curtain is hung on it, which can be made a bright touch in the setting. The curtain can be decorated with a suitable curtain holder.

A round cornice is sometimes installed not only over round baths, but also over oval ones. - it will be needed if the bathtub is used for taking a shower. The round structure can be used in Provence or country interiors, which are characterized by rounded bathtubs.

Radial cornices are a good solution for symmetrical corner baths.

The premises in which such structures are mounted can be decorated in a variety of styles. Wherein it is not necessary to follow any one of them. Mixing different styles when decorating one room (eclecticism, fusion) is quite acceptable. The bathroom may contain only a few details from a different style, for example, curtains, wallpaper at the top of the walls - and this will already be enough for the room to acquire an original and stylish look.
