It's no secret that most women don't like ironing very much. At the same time, if you ask the ladies themselves, ironing which particular item of clothing makes them work the most, then the overwhelming majority will agree that it is most difficult to iron trousers, especially if they are with arrows. The funniest thing about this fact is that many modern ladies often do not know at all how to iron arrows even on their trousers so that in the end a perfect result comes out, although in reality this action is not so difficult.

Preparatory stage

In order to make the process of ironing trousers as correctly as possible, you need to perform a number of preparatory manipulations:

  • the ironing surface is covered with a cover or a special thick-type blanket;
  • it is better to choose an iron that has a steaming function;
  • during ironing, it is recommended to cover the trousers with a thin layer of gauze;
  • use a spray bottle with liquid, if necessary.

It is necessary to set the temperature setting on your iron that corresponds to the type of fabric of your trousers. The required information is indicated on the label that is sewn on the back of the pants. Therefore, you should not cut it off, but rather save it if it does not interfere with your wearing trousers. If there is no such tag (it can fade from washing), then it is worth remembering: such types of natural fabrics as linen, cotton and wool are best ironed at elevated temperatures, but synthetic materials, on the contrary, at low temperatures.

When ironing, the pants will need to be turned inside out, carefully iron the existing pockets with an iron, do not forget about the lining, paying attention to the belt. The back seam should also be smoothed well.All manipulations are performed carefully, since it will not be easy to iron incorrectly ironed trousers afterwards. Take a close look at your pants before starting the process. They must be perfectly clean, as even a small stain can be firmly imprinted into the material during ironing. The appearance of the pants will be ruined, and it will be quite problematic to remove such a stain later.

Trouser pockets and seams must be empty. Often, after washing, you can find twisted fibers or a matted piece of paper in them, which can interfere with the ironing process of pants.

If your linen or corduroy pants are dry, simply spray them with water or steam from an iron., then fold and hang on the back of a chair for half an hour. To prevent moisture from evaporating, you can put wet pants in a bag. It is recommended to wrap silk in a slightly damp towel, as it will be very difficult to iron a dry product made of such fabric with high quality.

Ironing process

Let's consider how to iron classic men's pants correctly and as quickly as possible.

  • Start ironing from the top of the garment.
  • It is best to immediately moisten the ironing device (a special nozzle made of fabric), wring out and iron the belt with it, and also do not forget about the lining and the existing pockets.
  • Do not press the heated iron against the product, otherwise the seams will be printed on the legs. Clothes made of cotton and linen can be ironed without a nozzle or gauze.
  • It is necessary to iron the pants along the entire length, both front and back, while carefully bending all the seams, and ironing them at the end of ironing with slight pressure. Don't forget to use the steam function.
  • Next, turn the product to the front side. The trousers are pulled over the board or a special pad is placed under them. The iron will need to be repositioned frequently, as if you were steaming the fabric. Next, the trousers are ironed by turning them on the ironing board around the axis, or they are quickly turned over on the table.
  • After ironing, be sure to give the ironed product a little “rest” so that all moisture “leaves” it and it cools down. If you want to put on your pants right away, they can wrinkle very quickly.

Woolen and corduroy pants

Wool trousers can start to shine when ironed. To avoid this, you need to iron them through soaked in water with vinegar, and then a well-wrung out linen cloth. You may not completely dry it when ironing, and then the glossy effect can be easily avoided.

Corduroy trousers and velvet products are delicate items. They need to be ironed without pressure only along the direction of the pile, on the weight (and not on the board) or on a special pillow.

Silk pants are ironed only from the inside out, and through a completely dry material. The pants themselves should also not be wet. At the same time, linen and cotton can be wetted from the heart, and immediately ironed with an iron. Remember - do not put on or hide in the closet just ironed things, so they will wrinkle faster and lose their appearance.

Any wool items are perfectly ironed with wet gauze, you just need to turn the pants inside out beforehand. Woolen trousers are usually ironed on top. When ironing pockets, move the fabric slightly to the side and iron it over with a hot iron. Place a piece of cardboard in the front to avoid pocket imprints.

Place one pant leg on a special ironing board. Make sure the seams on the sides match. Also pay attention to the back and front folds - gently iron over them. The second leg is ironed in the same way. To prevent trousers from “shrinking” after such ironing, they must dry completely under a working iron, and not on a clothes hanger. During the ironing process, you do not need to forcefully press the iron to the fabric; it is better to try to “steam” the material.

Woolen pants can be smoothly ironed without the aid of an iron. Just lay the product on a regular terry towel or sheet, then place another towel on top of them.Use a regular rolling pin to “roll out” the trousers, changing wet towels to dry ones if necessary. This method even has a special advantage - the wool pile will definitely not crumple. Then the product is simply left on the table without towels to dry.

Corduroy, on the other hand, should not be ironed too often. With frequent ironing, the fabric will “shrink” and it will be difficult for you to correct this defect. For corduroy, it is best to choose an iron that has a regular steam function. Choose an iron with a Teflon sole for this purpose, it will avoid shiny stains on the fabric. You need to smooth out such a delicate fabric from the inside out, or you can use an iron made from natural fabrics.

It is recommended to iron corduroy only with a backing, which can be played by even a thin blanket. If there is such an opportunity, then ideally it is worth ironing the pants on the weight, although it is inconvenient, but the effect will be amazing. You just need to very carefully hold the pants over the iron, fixed with the sole up. This strange method has its advantages - you can easily smooth out creases with it.

To quickly iron your child's school pants in the morning, you can use a regular pillow for ironing and cover it with clean material. Put trousers on top of the pillow, cover them with an iron, and iron gently, barely touching the material with a heated iron. This method has an interesting feature: the pillow at the time of ironing will retain the heat coming from the iron, and it will heat up your trousers well from the inside, so that they look newer on the outside.

Trousers with arrows

Examine the trousers carefully, visually make sure that they are clean, and that there are no accidental stains. The pants are turned inside out and ironed, with particular attention paid to the areas where the pockets and belt are. Their initial ironing can facilitate the subsequent work of aiming the desired arrows. Using a small board will help you - it is very convenient to iron shirts on it as well.

Fold all the lines together: first fold the seams on the pants so that the grooves on the top of the pants converge together, and so that there are no extra folds on the material. Turn the pants inside out again, and start ironing the arrows themselves. If you do not want them to come out double, do not move the soleplate along the entire length of the product at once, it is better to gently iron small fragments. If you want the arrows to be visible longer, rub the inside of the fabric with a dry bar of soap, and when ironing, dampen gauze or other fabric with vinegar solution (dilute 10 g of vinegar in 1 glass of water). This solution will help you if shiny iron stains appear on your trousers.

After that, the product needs to "cool down", and then it can be folded into the cabinet. If you fold the product while it is still cold, “creases” may appear on it, and you will have to iron it again.

Once you have completely ironed the pants inside out, turned them inside out and ironed the top, simply fold the garment so that the seam on the outside of the leg and the inner hem are one under one. Pull up the trousers by the bottom of the legs and sew 4 seams together. Then fold the seams over the top and lay the pants on a flat surface. Line up all the seams of the pants on top. The arrow should be ironed up to 7 cm to the waist and no more. Ironing arrows should start at the knees. So that the seams do not "go away", you need to connect them together in certain places with special pins. After ironing, the trousers are hung on the back of the chair. Do not put them on until the fabric has cooled.

Helpful hints

If you're in too much of a hurry and can't find a piece of gauze or a piece of fabric to iron your trousers, or if you don't have a convenient iron attachment nearby, you can simply replace the gauze with a regular thin sheet of paper.

Pants made of synthetic materials are ironed with a slightly heated iron. Only insignificant creases or bruises need to be moistened here, using wipes moistened with water.The leather trousers only need to be held over the steam for a couple of minutes and they will become straight.

If the trousers cannot be ironed, they must be carefully steamed with an iron that has a steaming function, or use the help of a steam generator. You can carry out this process with a regular iron: place it horizontally and steam your pants, while holding the iron at a distance of 3 cm from the product itself. You should not touch the fabric itself with an iron. Thus, you will be able to steam your trousers more than once.

You can always smooth out creases on your trousers using a small, damp gauze. It is best to iron the product right from the inside out so that the fabric does not shine and your trousers do not shine. Set the temperature to a specific temperature for this type of fabric, place the iron itself on a wet piece of gauze and hold it there until the gauze fabric is completely dry. If necessary, repeat this process a number of times until the creases disappear completely. You should know that if there are scuffs in the place of the existing crease, then they will not disappear with it.

In life, it sometimes happens that you urgently need to have stylish, perfectly ironed trousers on hand, but there is no such important device as an iron. Not quite standard methods or adaptations can help you.that will allow you to properly smooth your trousers in any possible conditions.

  • Steam. Steam will help you to iron things that have not been ironed for a long time, or pants with significant creases. Steaming the pants in this way is a rather old trick. Just fill the bathtub with the hottest water possible and hang the things you need to iron over the bathtub. The hot steam will easily smooth out any wrinkles, and you only need to dry your clothes a little later. This method is not very suitable for those ordinary people who are in a hurry.
  • Hot metal mug. And this method of ironing without an iron is very ancient. To iron things, boiling water is poured into a metal mug, and the clothes you need are smoothed with the bottom of the product. If you are afraid that the mug will leave marks on your trousers, then iron them through regular cloth or gauze.
  • Press. Pants can be ironed in one more, but very long way. It's good if you have a dedicated ironing press, but what if you don't have one? Wash the product and wring it out thoroughly. Raise the mattress, put your pants under that impromptu abs, and go to bed in peace. Body weight and mattress material will quickly smooth out and dry your trousers with high quality, even in such extreme conditions.
