Today, most apartments in panel houses have a kitchen of 7 square meters, which can be considered a very small space. For a designer or owner making a room project, the main task is to create comfort and maximum functionality of the kitchen area. It is important to design the space most successfully and choose the color scheme, as well as the necessary decor.

Layout

There are different layouts of the premises, and even for a small kitchen of 7 sq. m you can choose one of them to your taste.

  • U-shaped layout. Quite a common option in studio apartments. It is worth paying attention to this type of planning, provided that you have a large family, respectively, you need many times more storage and cooking space. Unfortunately, the dining table may not fit into a small kitchen with such a layout. Therefore, you will have to consider other rooms in your apartment where you can put a table, for example, a living room.
  • Linear (single row). This is ideal for a narrow kitchen, of course, it is also used for square shapes. A set is located along the longest wall, preferably with built-in appliances. There is a dining area opposite. To fill an empty wall, you can hang a picture, TV, or other decor. Give preference to built-in appliances, as without it, some of the necessary appliances may simply not fit.
  • Corner (L-shaped). The most successful option for the arrangement of furniture and economical use of space. It is also better to use built-in devices. If you want to make your kitchen more interesting, then you can purchase a refrigerator to match the color of the headset panels. This gives the room a little flavor.

Styles

The first step in creating the perfect kitchen for you is choosing a style. In the modern world, there are a huge variety of them and everyone can find something to their liking.

  • Minimalism. For people who love space and simplicity in appearance, this style is just right. It allows you to maximize the light in your room. It is important that the emphasis is not on details, but on their absence. Everything is based on the ideality of shapes, lines, natural shades and practicality. Monolithic furniture, often glossy, immediately attracts the attention of guests.
  • Scandinavian. A style that is very similar to minimalism, but here it is complemented by plants, colorful dishes and other decor. Scandinavian furniture is distinguished by its aesthetic appearance, internal functionality and convenience. Most often, white is used, which is characteristic of this style.
  • High tech. A style that will make our life easier. Often, dark, discreet tones are used for different options. This composition is based on various mechanisms, built-in furniture and appliances, doors that close silently, a multi-level lighting system. There is nothing magical here, everything is quite real and feasible.
  • Provence. The style of the French provinces lends simplicity and personality at the same time. Everything is based on pastel shades, light furniture that has been artificially aged. This is a budget option, but there is a more expensive one. In order to emphasize the spirit of the times, some people buy vintage furniture. When choosing curtains, it is better to give preference to cotton or linen with floral prints.

Choice of colors

For a small room, a light range of colors is suitable. It will fill the room with light and visually increase its area. The main role is played by the white color, which is complemented by wood coverings, decorative stones or flowers. Do not forget the main rule: the floor is several shades darker than the walls, and the ceiling is the lightest of all coatings. To make furniture less dirty, choose one that is made of a highly washable material that does not accumulate dust and dirt.

If you don't like light colors, then you can use a palette of pastel colors. They will look great in any style. You can only add a couple of bright accents.

You can use more saturated colors, it all depends on the chosen style. The main thing is that there is no riot of colors, you should not use more than three basic shades, especially in a small space.

Finishes and materials

The choice of materials is very important, because it depends on this, how long the renovation and the new design embodied in reality will please.

  • Floor. Ceramic tiles are considered a practical option. It is inexpensive, looks good and is easy to clean, and with proper use it will last a long time. With a huge number of colors and textures, you can choose an option for any style. Often they use porcelain stoneware, which imitates natural stone and looks very dignified. Another budget option is linoleum. A variety of prints and the required thickness will allow you to choose the right one.

Laminate is also popular, especially, it will be appropriate in styles where imitation of a wooden surface is needed.

  • Walls. In the apron area, the best choice would be ceramic tiles or special panels. Both are perfectly washable and provide a wide range of colors and patterns. For the rest of the walls, you can choose wallpaper that matches the color, just paint it, put plaster. But you should always take into account that the kitchen is most often humid, so the materials must be moisture resistant. The same decorative plaster will have to be coated with a special protective compound.
  • Ceiling. The most suitable option is a stretch ceiling of light shades. A chandelier or additional lamps in certain areas will help to make it beautiful and original.Another option is a drywall hinged structure, with which you can also experiment. But you need to take into account the height of the room. A ceiling that is too low will reduce the space.

Decor and lighting

As additional lighting, you can use lamps, lamps, floor lamps, depending on what style is chosen and what pieces of furniture will be in the kitchen. Do not overload a small room with decor. A pair of plants, a picture on the wall, or just beautiful boxes on the shelves will be enough. Original curtains can be a bright accent.

A good addition would be a tablecloth, towels, napkins.
