Nice cups for coffee can be in your kitchen too: it is fashionable, and also makes life a little brighter.

Trends

Cups and goblets for coffee did not appear yesterday, but it is recently that they began to outperform traditional coffee cups. And more and more often the customer buys not the classic white coffee service in the form of mini-cups with a thin handle, but glasses and glasses. Modern coffee etiquette allows the use of:

  • cups from 40 to 600-700 ml;
  • ordinary glasses or glasses with a double bottom;
  • glasses of different shapes.

Many will say that etiquette has become less strict, but the art of drinking has changed. Previously, it boiled down to small cups, from which they drank more than just espresso. Today the customer is waiting for coffee cocktails to be served in comfortable, large glasses. Therefore, for an espresso, indeed, you need a miniature device, but for an Americano - a larger cup, which will hold 230 ml of the drink. The cappuccino capacity will be slightly smaller - 120-220 ml, but glasses are already needed for lattes, the favorite drink of students and managers, creative people and freelancers.

What to serve latte in?

Latte is a drink of low strength, for which it is loved. Latte options with a creamy taste and different toppings are especially popular today. Sometimes this drink is served in a traditional cup, and even in tall glasses, but a glass is preferable. If you translate the word "latte" from Italian, it will be - a glass for serving milk. It was once poured into tall glass glasses.Then they decided to add a little coffee to the dairy product, which served as a kind of topping. And this method turned out to be successful - the resulting mixture was called latte macchiato, that is, coffee milk.

Once the masters of brewing coffee noticed that if you pour a portion of coffee in a thin stream into the milk after it has been whipped, the coffee gets under the froth, so a dark layer is obtained. Such beauty could not be hidden behind the walls of the cup; glassware was required.

Today lattes are served in a variety of containers.

  • Traditional glasses with a capacity of 150-300 ml. The latte cup has a handle. The glass can be on a short stem (glass-like) and ordinary. The product on the leg has less capacity.
  • Glasses. The glass has no handle, the volume of such a product is up to 300 ml.
  • Special cup. These are usually porcelain or ceramic tall cups with an elegant, laconic shape, somewhat similar to an inverted trapezoid. The cup has a handle. The main colors are white and cream, brown cups are practically not found.

What to choose home is up to you. It is professional baristas who have requirements and standards; any product is suitable for home enjoyment of a drink. It is glasses for lattes that are actively being bought today; for drink lovers, a new version of a similar capacity, containing 360 ml of coffee, has begun to be produced. A plastic transparent glass (branded) costs from 300 rubles, but a porcelain Danish glass - 1500 rubles. A ceramic goblet is cheaper, but more often they buy standard glass goblets or glasses with a low stem.

Glass containers with double bottom

Thermo glasses made of double glass have a clear function - they are designed like a thermos, they keep heat for a long time. The structure consists of an external and an internal glass, which are articulated in the neck area. The inner glass has its own walls and its bottom, between the two walls there is just air. It is the air gap that insulates the coffee poured into such a product from contact with the hands of the person holding the glass.

There is a prominent hole in the bottom of the double glass glass. This is a valve that equalizes the difference between wall and atmospheric pressure. Therefore, it is absolutely impossible to close or glue this hole.

For the production of these slightly unusual heat-resistant glasses, special borosilicate glass is used. It is a chemically resistant material, it is resistant to high temperatures, and has a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Such glasses can be put in the oven, in the microwave, in the freezer, they are washed in the dishwasher. But even with these enviable properties, double-walled glass glasses are quite fragile.

One of the most sought-after products in this series is Delonghi coffee cups. The company is known for the production of coffee machines and accessories for them, therefore you can count on quality and thoughtful design.

Review of popular models

The famous and recognizable option for serving a drink is an Irish glass (or a glass for Irish coffee). Such dishes look elegant, they are made of heat-resistant glass, equipped with a handle and a low leg. In such a glass, aromatic coffee cocktails are often prepared, the glass capacity is within 200 ml.

There are other options as well.

  • Goblet glass Is a container for mixed coffee drinks. In shape, it is similar to a tulip, and its curved edge allows you to decorate the glass in different ways, to cling to various trifles for decoration. The volume of the goblet is large - up to 285 ml.
  • Hurricane glass. And this container looks more like an elegant vase, although its true purpose is coffee cocktails of a rather large volume. It can reach 650ml. The requirements for roominess are not strict: it all depends on the developer's idea, on the recipe for the coffee mix, as well as on the desire of the coffee lover himself.
  • Glasses for layered type cocktails (or a pus-cafe) - elongated, graceful liqueur glasses with a capacity of up to 100 ml.The very shape of the container promotes the settling of heavy components, therefore it is possible to make multi-layered drinks in it.
  • Glasses for frappe. They look beautiful thick coffee cocktails, in which ice is always present. The volume of such a glass is 250 ml.
  • Old fashion glass. And this is a simple, uncut glass, which is often simply called old-fashioned. Its volume is up to 240 ml.

Almost all of the presented models are transparent, sometimes there are variants of black glasses, but they are not so popular.

Eco-glasses

Eco-friendly reusable cups are either bamboo backing or rice hulls with recycled plastic. They look stylish, they are robust and often come with a lid. An example of such a product is the biodegradable Huscup. It costs about 1,000 rubles. The glass has a decent volume - 440 ml, weight is almost 260 g. It is made from rice husks, which is a natural product. The container has a removable silicone lid and holder that can be recycled. The glass can be washed in the dishwasher and heated in the microwave, which is very convenient.

The competition for this product can be made by the Ecoffee cup bio-mug. It costs a little less, about 750 rubles. It can hold 400 ml of coffee, but by weight it is quite light - 125 g. This glass is made of bamboo fiber, therefore it is completely biodegradable. In appearance, the mug resembles an ordinary coffee cup, only it seems that its cardboard is denser. The mugs are available in different colors and with different prints. The lid has a removable cap that will prevent the contents of the cup from splashing out.

Attention! And the cups can be foldable, which is very convenient for owners of clutches and those who like to travel light.

If you are a true connoisseur of coffee and love experimenting with tastes and serving, it hardly makes sense to choose one of the variety of coffee glasses. Buy 2-3 (or more) models that will not restrict you in the intricacies of cooking and serving. Savoring coffee is often the best way to start the day, so there are no trifles in this business.
