The problem of optimal use of space in an apartment or house is familiar to almost all of us. Stylish modern wall hooks for outerwear are becoming more and more in demand for small hallways, have firmly entered our life, are used every day to store outerwear and various accessories.

Wall furniture hooks in the hallway are necessary so that family members, returning home, can hang outerwear and accessories (umbrellas, bags, scarves, etc.) for storage. When visiting guests, hooks for clothes in the hallway will also be needed. There are undeniable advantages to using wall hooks.

  • Compactness. Most of all, open hangers with hooks are preferred by owners of small spaces. Not every hallway can accommodate a bulky wardrobe. Compact hooks solve this problem without sacrificing the comfort of the residents.
  • Affordable cost. In the conditions of modern realities, this is an important factor. Any set of furniture hooks, even the most stylish, costs significantly less than a wardrobe.
  • Functionality. Strong, correctly mounted hooks can easily withstand heavy winter clothes (coat, fur coat, down jacket), and miniature items are convenient for storing light items (hats, keys, umbrellas).
  • Easy to install. There are no problems with attaching the hooks. If it becomes cramped on the hanger, it is enough to mount 2-3 more hooks, and additional space for clothes is ready without buying a new closet.
  • Variety of assortment. Among the many options, there is always an ideal solution that meets the needs of the consumer and the design of a particular room.

Materials (edit)

Wall fittings are mainly made of metal, wood and plastic.

  • Metal. Furniture hooks made of chrome-plated steel, aluminum or bronze are strong, reliable, durable. It is the metal hooks that are most suitable for the hallway, they can easily withstand high loads. The downside of metal hooks is the need to drill the wall for mounting on self-tapping screws.
  • Wood. Hooks made of painted lacquered wood look stylish, are easier to attach, withstand the load when hanging heavy items of clothing, but do not suit every interior, are used much less often.
  • Plastic. The most budgetary option. Obviously unacceptable for a sophisticated interior. It will not work for heavy outerwear, but for a lot of household items it is quite a worthy solution.

Of course, materials for manufacturing are not limited to these types only. In an elite home with luxurious furniture, fittings can be silver or gilded, decorated with inlay. Technologies have been developed for obtaining modern materials from non-metals or metal shavings by pressing during high-temperature heat treatment.

In simpler apartments and houses, many craftsmen make hooks with their own hands from scrap materials and get original results. Compositions of cutlery, tools, fasteners, pipe cuttings, beautifully bent in a corresponding way are used.

Interesting results are also obtained from wooden knots and rods, and so that the tree does not turn out to be inappropriate, the products are painted to match the style of the interior.

By design, furniture hooks are:

  • single-horned (single) - have high strength, withstand serious loads, are used to store heavy types of outerwear, large bags, filled backpacks;
  • double-horned (double) - optimally combine strength and functionality, are most widespread, are used for the simultaneous storage of one large piece of clothing (on one of the horns) and several small items (on the second);
  • three-horned (triple) - they consist of 1 large horn and two smaller ones, they are used to store lighter items of clothing and small things, since if the weight distribution is uneven, the hook may deform or break.

Mounting methods

The hooks can be positioned in different ways: fixed directly on the wall, door, decorative panel, open section of the side wall of the furniture in the hallway. Can be fixed in one row, at different levels, diagonally - whatever you like. It is a good idea to provide separate hooks for children and fasten them low so that children can conveniently hang their clothes themselves (for example, when coming from school or returning from a walk). The choice of mounting method is influenced by:

  • what material the element is made of;
  • the weight of the things that are planned to be hung;
  • the weight and size of the hook itself;
  • the surface on which the hooks will be placed.

For fastening single-hook hooks, special studs with a metric thread are most often used. The self-tapping part of such a stud is screwed into the surface, and a hook is screwed onto the metric thread. Such elements can be mounted with screws or screws one at a time or combined into various systems in the form of structures, as well as made folding at the moment when nothing is hanging on the hanger. Two-arm and three-arm products are attached using self-tapping screws or screws (by design).

Wherein the length and type of self-tapping screw for a specific surface is taken into account based on the thickness of the panel and material in order to obtain a reliable element... For example, an incorrectly selected self-tapping screw under load will simply be torn out of drywall, for this material you need to take molly dowels.

The options for fastening with double-sided tape and glue are the simplest in execution, do not require special tools, do not harm the walls, but their reliability is not so high.

How to choose?

Correctly selected furniture hooks will be comfortable to use, will organically fit into the design style of the room, will not require replacement for a long time and will not cause any trouble to the owners. It is necessary to take into account not only the functionality, but also the aesthetic component of the appearance of the products, since in the hallway they are constantly in sight and are used daily. Determining the size is easy. For winter clothes and weighty bags, large strong hooks are suitable, for small household items and various accessories - small elements.

The choice of design is also not particularly difficult. It is necessary to decide what and where will be stored. Single hooks - for storing heavy items. On such elements, the load is evenly distributed, the product will serve for many years.

Double and triple hooks are selected for storing lighter garments.

        The most important parameter of choice is material. Metal products made of aluminum and steel are the most durable, withstand high loads and do not rust. It is recommended to choose high-quality branded fittings that make up a single style with other elements (door handles, hinges, door closers). Wooden products are timeless classics, they are valued for their naturalness and decorative effect, but they are less strong and durable than metal ones, which is natural. Plastic elements in hallways are rarely used, except for children's things, shoe spatulas, keys, as they can break, come off under load, and require frequent replacement. Usually, plastic products are chosen not in the hallway, but in the kitchen, bathroom, toilet, where the load is much lower.

        The expression "hallway begins with a hanger" is familiar to everyone. Competently selected fittings elements serve not only for convenience and comfort, but also harmoniously complement the overall style of interior decoration. The variety of design ideas is amazing. In modern developments, you can find accessories of all kinds of shapes and sizes, allowing you to choose the right elements for almost any style of interior.
