Eaves in the bedroom: varieties and recommendations for choosing

There are no trifles in the arrangement of the interior, any detail must be in its place, responding to the general style of the room. An illiterately selected device for attaching curtains (cornice) is able to give the interior an awkward look, beating out of the interior concept. Having information about the types of this component of the interior decoration, its advantages and imperfections, it is easier to make a competent choice.

There are several types of cornices, and everything must be taken into account: material, shape, method of fastening, etc.

Devices for fastening curtains according to the material of execution, they are divided into:

• wooden;
• metal or forged;
• aluminum;
• plastic.

Forged and aluminum devices are in special demand nowadays. These are some of the most comfortable types of curtain rods and can hold up to any curtain. Wooden devices are usually chosen solely in order to highlight the style of interior decoration.

Plastic structures are one of the most accessible types of devices. Various devices are made of plastic. Only they do not look so impressive in comparison with the other two types of materials. In addition, plastic specimens are not available for heavy curtains. However, they are quite suitable for lightweight tulle.

This is very important to consider if you have any specific, strictly "built" style of the interior.

• Round. They represent a pipe with a diameter of 10-40 mm. An auxiliary pipe with a diameter of 2-3 mm may be present in the structure.
• Baguette devices for fastening curtains. Hooks and guides in these patterns are closed with a decorated strip.
• Flexible cornices.
• Semicircular devices. A variety of modifications of semicircular cornices makes it possible to widely use them in a variety of situations.
• Strings. Instead of a rod, an almost invisible cable is pulled here, which makes it possible to form a certain decorative effect.
• Profile. The rails are made of flexible aluminum, which allows you to give the structure to almost any configuration.
• Bus (rail). Balls with hooks move along specialized rails inside the device.
• Combined. If the device has many rows, it is quite capable of combining several design principles, for example, busbar with string or rail.

If you use curtains on rings with loops or eyelets, then round curtain rods are what you need. Baguette devices are best suited for classic interiors. Flexible devices are practiced for arches, wall niches or bay windows, due to their ability to bend. They are mainly made from plastic or aluminum.

Semicircular ones are irreplaceable when it comes to bay windows or non-standard windows. The second important method of using semicircular fixtures is to attach protective screens and curtains in the bathroom or on the loggia.

By the method of fastening the cornices are subdivided into:

• ceiling;
• wall.

Profile devices are fixed to the wall or ceiling along their entire length. They have one or more channels through which fasteners with curtains slide. In string devices, strings are used to suspend fasteners. On round models, the curtains are fixed with eyelets or rings with clothespins. Semicircular are fixed to the wall or ceiling.

Curtain rods make it possible to control the curtains, changing their location in such a way as required by the owner.

By the type of management, the following types can be distinguished.

• Devices with a mechanical (manual) type of control. In order to open / close the curtains, a specialized pointer is used that moves the curtains to the left and right. A cord can also be used, making it possible to move them up and down.
• Modifications with automatic control. They are equipped with an electric drive, which allows you to control the curtains using the remote control or a button. Such models require separate electrical wiring, which must be worried about in advance.

Mechanical control is suitable for all types of curtains and decoration, including tulle or curtains. But the automatic control is suitable for large bulky Blackout curtains. With the help of the remote control, you have the opportunity, without getting out of bed, to adjust the flow of light.

For the bedroom, both ceiling and wall devices are suitable. It is necessary to pay main attention to products made of metal or wood (starting from the interior design).

• Fastening roller blinds. If you decide to install roller blinds in the bedroom, then the selected sample should be made of dense materials to restrict the access of light to the room. Therefore, a profile cornice will be used here.
• Models in classic style. When choosing a curtain rod for curtains in a classic style, a number of essential points must be taken into account. If the curtains are heavy, then the plastic modification should not be used, due to the high probability of its deformation. Metal samples are perfect.
• Cornice for a lambrequin. If you are going to hang a lambrequin, then it is advisable to choose a device to which it will be fixed by means of Velcro, or to purchase a metal sample.

If you take into account the style of the room, then with the classic it is better to use metal and wooden curtain rods, while baguette devices will beautifully complement modern styles. For the high-tech direction, string and profile structures are more suitable, modern accepts metal rods, ethno style will effectively beat wood rods.

If you need to get absolute darkness in the bedroom then, in order to take a nap during the day, it is advisable to buy designs with rounded edges. They will give the curtains the opportunity to snuggle against the wall, and the light from the street will not penetrate into the room through thick curtains.

For spacious windows and light bedrooms, massive curtains are mainly chosen; in this version, the diameter of the cornice should not be less than 30 mm. The diameter of light eaves will be 12 or 16 mm.

The diameter of the eaves pipe is selected in proportion to its length:

• 16 millimeters - for 190 centimeters curtain rods;
• 19 millimeters - 210-220 centimeters;
• 25-30 millimeters - 220 centimeters or more.

Compliance with these characteristics will avoid such a problem as the deflection of the eaves pipe.
