With the advent of the autumn-winter period, the warmth that escapes us is more and more appreciated. To feel comfortable in chilly autumn or freezing winter, many people prefer to dress warmly, opting for woolen clothes.

Angora is one of the most popular options for autumn-winter fabric. Things made of this material not only retain heat well, but are also soft. Let's take a closer look at this material, understand its composition, features and applications.

Description

Angora is a Turkish fabric made from the down of angora goats, which is why it got its name. Now a similar material is also produced from the down of angora rabbits. Unfortunately, it does not have sufficient strength, therefore, additional fibers are present in the composition of such a material in large quantities. There are frequent cases of making cloth from fine-woolen sheep's wool, but such fabric does not have all the characteristic features that are inherent in true angora material.

The natural color of the fabric is white, gray and black. Fortunately, such fibers lend themselves well to the dyeing process, so on the shelves you can find various dresses and costumes from angora, which delight the eye with an abundance of colors and shades. A distinctive feature of the Angora is its soft thermal insulation. In addition, natural products are so insignificant in weight that they seem practically weightless.

Composition

The natural down of angora goat is difficult to process, the fibers can become highly electrified and slip.Therefore, textiles are often made from a mixture of down and the addition of other materials.

The most common composition combinations in angora fabric are:

  • 70% Angora goat down and 30% nylon;
  • 50% down, 25% merino fur and 25% synthetic fibers;
  • 40% angora down, 50% any other type of wool and 10% nylon;
  • 70% wool fibers and 30% natural silk;
  • 15% angora down, 10% wool fibers, 50% viscose and 25% nylon.

If you process angora down with a laser, then the production process of angora fabric is greatly simplified and you can get a textile product that is 100% wool.

If goat hair is present in the composition of such material, then the abbreviation of two Latin letters "WN" can be found on the product label. If there is rabbit fluff in the Angora, then the letters "WA" will be written on the product. There are also frequent cases of combinations of similar fibers. Please note that the more the proportion of angora goat down is present in the product, the higher its value is set.

A relatively inexpensive material contains no more than 20% natural wool. Exclusive options for fabrics with an Angora percentage of 80% or more can be very expensive and rarely appear on the mass market. Eminent fashion houses sew dresses and suits from this material. In textiles, the composition of which is 25-30% of angora, in terms of their thermal insulation properties and characteristics, they are practically in no way inferior to a similar material made of rabbit fluff.

Varieties

There are several varieties of angora fabric, depending on which animal's wool is used (rabbit or goat), as well as the presence of additional fibers.

  • Mohair. It is made exclusively from goat down, the fiber length of which can be up to 30 centimeters. From an older animal, you can get wool with a higher density. The softest material is made from lamb wool, which is less than 6 months old. Mohair is more durable than rabbit fluff.
  • Angora - pure rabbit fur. The length of the fibers can be up to 20 centimeters. Such fibers are quite difficult to process, since the wool constantly tends to crawl out and it can be quite difficult to fix it. Therefore, only about 20% of these fibers are added to textiles.
  • Lana refers to a high quality material that is characterized by a high cost. It is made on the basis of merino wool. There are two types of such fabric: obtained from fine or regular merino fur. The softer and thinner the fluff is used in the production of such a material, the more delicate such fabric ultimately turns out to be.
  • Angora metallic. The composition of this material also includes acrylic fibers, including silver-plated and polymer fibers. Thanks to these components, the down stays in place and does not knock out of the fabric.
  • Melange made of natural wool, in addition to which synthetic fibers are added, made in contrasting shades. This technology of weaving threads allows you to create the visual effect of marble chips.
  • Suprem belongs to angora knitwear, which is added with lycra. This kind of jersey stretches perfectly. Looks great and wears without material deformation.
  • Containing acrylic or viscose. This material belongs to inexpensive, but at the same time warm and soft fabric options. Often, elastane or polyester is also added to form a knitted fabric.
  • Software belongs to synthetic knitted fabrics, being of good quality imitation of angora down. Most often it is made with the addition of polyester and elastane. The composition does not contain natural wool.Angora soft can be made with or without pile. If you combine it with lurex, then you get a material that is perfect for a festive event.

Please note that in some people, lurex can cause an allergic reaction, so clothes containing this component should be worn on top of thin cotton underwear.

Care

Things made of angora fabric require careful and careful handling. It is not recommended to wash them very often. If funds allow, then it is better to give the product to dry cleaning.

If you prefer to wash things yourself, then you need to do this with utmost care. Since from contact with water, clothes from angora can not only deform, but also change significantly in size, which is especially important when it comes to hot water. It is necessary to wash products made of such a fabric in lukewarm water, without applying any effort. It is recommended to add a few tablespoons of baby shampoo to the water. The thing should be held for several minutes in a similar solution on one and the other side.

In no case should it be crumpled. After that, the clothes should be rinsed thoroughly also in warm water. Do not twist or forcefully squeeze an angora product. You need to place it on a terry towel and blot well. After that, the item is also spread on a dry towel, which must be changed periodically. Be prepared to wait until the fabric is completely dry, which can take a long time.

Only if you carefully wear and care for things made of angora fabric, they will warm you in the cold, while maintaining their aesthetic appearance.
