The raglan sleeve is very often used in the sewing of dresses and blouses. Raglan is a special type of sleeve cut; it is cut out together with the shoulder part of the back and front. The style of the raglan sleeves has its own pattern, which is different from the usual set-in brother.

Modeling clothes and individual details of products is a fascinating creative process. With a little calculations and changes in the pattern, you can get a template for a stunning new blouse.

Where to start modeling raglan? You can learn more about this in this article.

Blouse sleeve modeling

Raglan can be modeled on the pattern of a straight women's shirt. As a rule, there are no darts there, so there will be no special difficulties in modeling the sleeve. Note that the whole drawing will change, but we will explain everything in order.

The sequence of all changes is as follows:

  • Draw the pattern of the back and the shelves on new paper. Divide the length of the armhole into 2 equal segments (mark the center on the armhole).
  • At the neckline from the shoulder cut, set aside a 3.2 cm segment.Connect the points obtained. Divide the segment by 2 and draw a perpendicular equal to 1 cm, draw a convex line. Outline the cutting lines of the new pattern with a pencil.
  • Cut the pattern with scissors. The shoulder section of the raglan sleeve is ready. Make changes to the pattern on the shelf and back. The pattern of the shoulder section must be signed (as shown in the photo).

Now it's time to change the set-in sleeve itself:

  1. Find the highest point of the part ridge, raise the perpendicular equal to 0.6 cm and draw a horizontal line.
  2. Along the side cuts, lay a 3.8 cm segment downward, and draw a new sleeve ridge.
  3. Attach the shoulder sections to the sleeve so that a gap of 1.6 cm forms between the shoulder sections on the sleeve ridge. Glue them to the sleeve pattern.

The raglan pattern is ready.

Chiffon model: pattern and master class

A raglan sleeve blouse needs no introduction. Many girls choose her. A chiffon blouse is the best option for any season. How and with what you can wear it will be described later. Now you need to consider all the pros and cons of the material itself.

Chiffon is an airy translucent fabric that drapes well. Chiffon wrinkles little and absorbs moisture well. Chiffon makes stunning blouses and evening dresses.

And now a master class: how to sew a chiffon blouse?

An example of a pattern for this blouse is given in the previous section "blouse sleeve modeling". You only need to change the length of the sleeve.

What you need to do for this:

  • Measure sleeve length.
  • From the highest point of the sleeve ridge, set aside a new length, draw a horizontal line. Cut the pattern along the new line of the bottom of the sleeve.

After building a pattern and cutting it out, you should get:

  • Backrest - 1 piece.
  • Before - 2 details.
  • Sleeve - 2 parts.
  • Stand collar - 3 parts (1 - non-woven).
  • Cuffs - 2 folds.

The sequence of all works:

  • Fold the sleeve with the shelf with the wrong side inward, aligning the marks and stitching. The line should go along the front side, cut off the excess fabric.
  • Unscrew the seam and iron gently with an iron. Run 2nd seam inside out, covering open cut.
  • Place a locking seam on the closed allowance. The seam is called French. In this way, you need to collect the second sleeve with a back and a shelf.
  • Sew the sides of the blouse with one line.
  • Tuck the strap under the fastener to the wrong side, having previously reinforced it with non-woven or dublerin. Sew the plank on the machine.

Now let's start sewing the collar:

  • Fold the collar parts right side inward and sew on the machine.
  • Make notches on the round places of the collar and turn them out. With chalk, draw a line on the wrong side along the bottom edge.
  • Sew the rack into the neck of the blouse along the marked line. It is better to lay the outline from the center point of the back in both directions. Stitch collar and cut off excess seam allowance.
  • On the seamy side, sweep the inside of the rack and stitch it.

Now you need to hem the edge:

  • Fold the blouse, align the hem.
  • Try on the product. If the blouse seems long, cut off the excess length.
  • Hem the bottom of the blouse in the usual way.
  • Sew cuffs to sleeve.

How to wear such a blouse? A few words can also be said about this. A blouse with a stand-up collar or with a turn-down collar is suitable for the fair sex of all ages.

The blouse has a style that can be worn in 2 versions. For example, you get a beautiful image if you tuck a blouse inside a skirt or jeans.

Fans of trousers can experiment and go to a meeting with friends, wearing a jersey blouse over tight trousers. The tie collar model is suitable for any formal meeting or special occasion.

A blouse with raglan sleeves is a product on which you can practice and start sewing your own clothes. Step-by-step instructions will help girls understand the technology for making lightweight clothing.

The following video will tell the girls how to sew the cuffs to the sleeves.
